Help Me Use This Fentanyl Patch Safely

I am not one of those people who is just going to throw half a patch in his mouth and hope for the best. I am fully aware of the extreme potency and danger of fentanyl. I've spent the past few days reading through this and other forums on this subject, but I am not totally satisfied by anything I've read. Every single thread I've read through had one group of people saying "Don't abuse fentanyl, you will die!" and the other group saying "Bro, don't be a pussy, stick that whole thing in your mouth and get fucked up". Obviously, fentanyl has the potential to be dangerous, but if a person is extremely cautious and uses their wits, it can be used safely just like any other opiate. And here's the thing: I'm going to do it no matter what, bottom line. Help me make sure that I do it safely.

I have one 50mcg/hour, 5mg total PAR brand patch. I haven't opened it yet for fear of losing potency, but it seems very flat so I am assuming it is not a gel patch. A little background about me: I was a daily IV heroin user for about two years. Lately, I've slowed down significantly, but I still seem to have a pretty good tolerance. I use opiates about once every two weeks at this point, and when I do I usually use about 90mg of oxycodone orally or between .3-.6 grams of black tar heroin intranasally (dissolved in water and mixed with an inert cutting agent). I typically end up disappointed by those doses and don't get very high at all.

I am thinking that I will cut off a very small segment of a patch at a time for sublingual use, wait for each piece to manifest its effect, and either increase as needed or stop if it seems sufficient. I figure that 1/30th of the 5mg total patch would contain about 166.67 micrograms of fentanyl. Based on the opioid conversion charts I've seen, that amount should be more than safe for a person who uses the doses that I do of oxycodone and heroin. What do you think?

I would appreciate any firsthand experience the community may have. Even after the research I've done, I'm still very hesitant and frightened to proceed. Ultimately though, I have no other opioid to use, and I'm going to do it one way or another...hopefully safely.

So, I opened up the package, and it turns out that this is in fact a gel patch. This complicates things, and I'm torn... I'm really craving a fix with no other options, but this shit is scary.

Listen...I can do up to 140mg of opana daily, but I'll never, ever touch fent.

The reason people advise you of the dangers is because it is dangerous. Many, many experienced users with high tolerance have died off single use of fent.

You don't have a high enough tolerance to even take that chance, you know?

And gel, hell naw, you don't have a clue where it's settled. If you want a fix badly, get a small dose of opana, or something.

Just my advice. You said you're gonna do it no matter what but any responsible person would advise against it. I've known too many people in my city who have died off fent in the past two months.

I ended up placing a small dab under my tongue. I didn't experience what I'd call a high. Pretty sedated and a little itchy, but no euphoria or anything particularly pleasant to speak of. The main thing I noticed was how HEAVY the respiratory depression was in proportion to the "high", it was ridiculous. Flushed the rest down the toilet, not worth it.

Opana? I wish I could get that. It used to be my doc when I lived in Philly. I live in a small west coast town now and it's very dry as far as opiates. Tar heroin is available but very overpriced. >no prices< The only other things I can typically find are overpriced oxycodone and these fentanyl patches. In a way it's forced me to majorly cut down my usage, but sometimes I do some reckless shit like this out of desperation. Forever an opiate fiend, even when the options suck...

This is the reason why it is so dangerous for recreational use, even if you were able to dose it correctly. It suppresses respiratory rate much more. Glad you found it out not the worst way.

FYI - I've used Fentanyl several times and I love it. I have a very high tolerance to oxy (percocet) so the Fent patch was a great alternative for me. I've worn the patch on my skin, but prefer to cut it into pieces and chew on it. The last one I had was a 50mlg dose, which I cut into 4 strips, I believe. I was nervous at first about the respiratory side effects I had read about, so I wore my exercise heart rate monitor to try to gauge how my body handled it. I honestly didn't feel like I was in any danger and I very much enjoyed the high.

Yeah, for sure. I'm glad I hadn't been feeling totally careless and taken more than I did. I thought methadone was bad in that area but this was worse.

What is your oxy tolerance like? I take between 90-120 mg at a time with no ill effect, but this small bit of fent scared me.

Your oxy tolerance is much higher than mine. I only take 40mgs at a time, only because I'm trying to conserve my Rx. I could easily handle more (50 or 60mg) at a time, but I don't want to run out too quickly. I'm taking about the 10/325 Percocet, just to clarify.

So I think you'd be fine with a strip of the Fent patch. Try 1/6 to start, then cut off a bigger Piece if you don't get the effect you were looking for. I put it in my mouth and sort of scrape the get off with my teeth. It takes a little while to feel the effects. Then I end up chewing on it til I've gotten everything out of it.
