Eating shit as per fuckin usual...
Been all over the news this morning (can't post links as I'm on my phone and don't know how)

So all you OTC diphenhydramine and dxm freaks watch out :-)

Further evidence that illegal drugs are a damn sight safer than legal ones.....

Regular use of OTC anticholinergics has been discouraged by pharmacists for as long as I can remember, but it's frightening to see that there's a possible link with dementia too.

We'll wait and see what comes of this, as least we forget:

“Additional studies are needed to confirm these findings and to understand the underlying mechanisms.”

I've heard and (seen) some horror stories from folk ODing on OTC diphenhydramine.

Looks terrifying what with the hallucinations and conversations with imaginary people.

I've always had a bit of a fear of things like that which is one of the reasons I wouldn't take LSD if you paid me.....hallucinations and bad trips scare the shit out of me

Huh, not seen that. Are they looking at recreational/frequent use or...?

That's the way my phone wanted to spell it so that's the way it is. Now fuck off you condescending twat! ;-)

Edit: nice one Bob...

Edit 2: mods, any chance you can correct my glaring spelling mistake in the thread title? Wenlock has shamed me :-(

To be fair, the study seemed to concentrate on the over 70s that regularly use anticholinergic drugs in 'high doses' for therapeutic reasons (though I don't know if the doses are specified). The yank on the radio who was part of the study made it clear that anyone who uses these drugs at all should be worried - sounds like blatant scaremongering to me....

Out of all the various substance reports on erowid's diphenhydramine has the craziest stories. I cant believe people can even consider getting 'high' on that shit the trip reports just read like a nightmare and the fact you can literally have conversations with people that are not there. Fuck that shit

Yeah exactly.....sounds terrifying.

Some people though will take just about anything that has a mind altering effect....even if that effect is really unpleasant.

I find pregabalin to be like that. I hardly ever take it nowadays because the effects are just so unpleasant. When I first found out that it was a "drug of abuse" I was flabbergasted. It must makes you feel nauseous, dizzy and stupid......and you fall over a lot.

Its like all the bad effects of being drunk without any of the good ones. Yet ita highly sought after by some.

This is a bit shit for me as I've abused quite a lot of diphenhydramine over the years.

True, they physical effects were not nice at all, but the delirium was just such an interesting state. I will also say that it sort of saved my life one day by making me lose consciousness before I did something really stupid.

Still, it is very nasty stuff.

This is true..however the really stupid thing was going to be getting hit with a large, blunt instrument. Namely an articulated lorry haha :o
