The cost of an admin fee has been made to be no more than £10, a fee of under or over that will be in your terms and conditions. Check those before you start sulking.
 
Told a girl I've been talking to about my boiler issues. She said and I quote "I'll have to come and spend some time with you in your new hot house"

Am I reading too much in to it?

Can they really charge this much for an address change?? and cancel it like this without notice? I'm pissed off cos i'll lose my months of no claims bonus and may have to pay a cancellation fee on top

Ask them to send you proof of your NCB (by letter) and move onto a decent insurance company. Don't pay them a fucking penny for admin fees or any of that bullshit. Threaten them with the Ombudsman.

What insurance company was this? Name them.
 
Yeah the ombudsman has stated that the cost of the admin fees must reflect the actual cost to the company. Unfortunately, they haven't given a ball park figure for address change.

Anyway, it's better trying to appeal it further because it costs them money just to appear before the ombudsman. They have eight weeks to find a resolution with you and, if this fails, they risk a much bigger penalty than you little admin fee. They'll hopefully just feel it's not worth chasing.
 
Great responses all, thank you so much. Ombudsman is the way forward it seems. A lot of phone calls will be made tomorrow, between the company and citizens advice.

Not giving company details away on here, as it may potentially leak my identity. But be sure their name will be defamed on many related forums in near future.

Meant to add it's going rough at the minute cravings are tough had a major seizure a week or so back really messed me up so now wondering if I've screwed myself up for good when it comes to drugs

Has your doctor given you anything to help with this??? I would bloody well hope so!
