French Satirical Magazine HQ Attacked - 12 Dead

Freedom of speech / expression - lets poke that bear
Freedom of speech / expression - bear rips your face off

Be careful what you poke :D

Icould care less about freedom of speech/expression. Just because i find majority of civilization in general really fucked up. There are cool persons too though.

there has been war almost everywhere.we can save so many lives~ with fixing word-wide food shortage problems and it wouldn't cost more than any of the recent wars.
We lock persons in cages away from society for possessing drugs or a powder/plant for self-use

edit - oh they haven't even caught them yet. still. They will have everyone on them - they are fucked. feds were like 30 minutes away, and cowards got away with hostage in car

I do not in anyway agree with these murders but I often think about if the shoe was on the other foot.

Picture this, the UK is suddenly invaded for no reason and totally by surprise and your homes are flattened, your city is rubble and some of your relatives died. The ground forces came and waged war through the streets and some of your friends got killed, sadly your mum/sister/brother/father was shot dead by the occupiers. You have little food and are scared to leave the house

What would you do? I could honestly say Id saw some cunts head off or plant an IDE, Id have that much hate Id do things that I wouldnt be normally capable of.

As a person who can count former 'terrorists' amongst his ancestors and close relatives, I see where you're coming from. In fact, for much of my youth I genuinely wanted to blow up Britain, despite having been born and raised here and not brought up to hate anybody.

The scary thing is that the more the paranoia grows and the auld divisive rhetoric is uttered, not to mention the continuation of highly questionable western meddling in Muslim-majority countries, the more such radicalisation will take place.

And the tension builds.

How about this? You are situated in a country, not that of your origin, this country provides for you and your family. In your homeland, the country you are currently residing in the government decides to flatten your country, relatives and friends dead like you said.

What do you do? Go about killing completely innocent people?? Your "beef" should be with the government and the security forces carrying out these operations, not innocent civillians who some have absolutly no interest in the matter or even agree with what there government are doing.

Your saying you would run next door and kill and the kids and women, even though completely innocent? What they are doing it so different, they are cowards and are attacking the general public because they can not go toe to toe with the people who are actually orchestrating these attacks and carrying them out.

Another 4 innocent people killed in a jewish supermarket in Paris, this time by a seperate gunman who decided to kill the hostages, he also met the same fate.

This kind of attack has been coming for a long time though, the manhunt for the 2 gunman was nationwide using all the resources they had, I always thought what if they had about 15 coodinated attacks around the country, simply terrorists with guns causing carnage nationwide, I dont think the security services would be able to cope, and this is in some ways a watered down version of that. I think they have learnt to think outside if their tiny minds and realise putting all their effort into bombing a single target with low casualties is not exactly the best method of "terror"

That's really not overly relevant in this particular instance as it would appear this periodical was targeted purely for their printing of satirical material (whether of dubious quality or not is irrelevant) relating to aspects of the Islamic religion. They did the same in relation to other religions but only one felt the need to massacre the staff. This has nothing to do with foreign policy. Foreign policy is certainly highly dubious but bringing it in to mitigate this particular action just doesn't fit cos the two are essentially unrelated as far as I can see.

"Foreign policy is irrelevant in this case" was probably a tad strong but I don't see how it can be used as an excuse for shooting writers and cartoonists who I would be reasonably sure were also highly critical of foreign policy.

You need to take into account the bond felt by Muslims, irrespective of nationality and sectarianism. Look at the number of English and Scottish Catholics, even without any Irish ancestry, involved in the civil rights struggles.

When you feel that your cultural identity is under threat, then the smallest incident can easily appear to be a part of something greater.

Did any of those people feel it justified to walk into the offices of Private Eye and open fire?

Of that I have no doubt which is not a million miles away from the point I was trying to make - that genuine issues are being used to "justify" acts of mindless and gratuitous violence so tenuously linked to the supposed justification the perpetrators really don't deserve to be given "terrorist" status. It's thuggery pure and simple.

The most ironic thing I've read in the aftermath of this was writen by a Muslim and he said that the prophet Mohammed would be for more insulted and enraged by acts like this being carried out in his name that he ever would over a silly cartoon.

I think the whole "justifying" thing is irrelevant anyway. These were as shambles said just thugs who wanted to hurt people and would use any shite as "justification"

Je Suis Charlie.....

To be fair I'm surprised more caricature artists aren't murder on the streets in cold blood

No-one is born a "thug".

Indeed. And nobody is born Muslim, Christian, Buddhist or Rastafarian either. Plenty are born into shitty situations of many a stripe though. In this case they appear to have been born into central Paris which is probably not the worst conceivable situation to have been born into whatever genetic heritage you happen to have. This appears to me to be alienation and lack of opportunity - generic institutional racism, low expectations, next to no opportunities and relative poverty. Has fuck all to do with current foreign policy - "Islamism" just happened to be the most convenient outlet for their unrelated frustrations would be my suspicion.

France recognises Palestinian state.
Bibi warns France of "Grave Consequences."
Whoops. I left my ID in the car.
Shoot out in "kosher" store.
You can't script this stuff any better.
Watch out Sweden. :/
