So my dads been on 170mg injectables for over ten years, he slipped and broke his leg after christmas, i went to go get his amps cause he was in agony and the ambulance was taking ages, got authority too, now the drug place my dad is refferred to is taking him off his amp scrpt starting monday and putting him on linctus, my dad wont even touch the stuff, i mean for us he will have to , but for christ sakes surely they cant just do this, people who have been following my other thread will know what ive been going through, but this just tops it off for us ..

any protocols we can go through? just have to bite our tounges and be told what the fuck to do, guys coming towards his 60s. surely they cant do this ! the woman at the drug place put the phone down on him after him asking her about the change, i seriously cant take this shit :(

You've not given a reason as to why he's been taken off the amps and moved onto the linctus. Could you not ask them, or go about appealing the decision?

there excuse, when someone is percribed linctus once there leg has been broken they cannot go back onto injectables, the guy is still on them until monday, they changed his script without his knowledge!?!?!?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a cost saving exercise Bare.

A quick Google search shows;

Injection, methadone HCl:

25 mg/mL, 2-mL amp = £2.05
50 mg/mL, 1-mL amp = £2.05

as opposed to

Oral solution 1 mg/mL, methadone HCl 1 mg/mL:
20 mL = 29p
30 mL = 60p
40 mL = 58p
50 mL = £1.03
60 mL = 87p
100 mL = £1.45
500 mL = £9.60

Tory Britain :\

Have you asked them to stipulate why he can't go back onto the amps? Ask them to put their reasoning in writing, by law they have to respond within 28 days to your initial request acknowledging your request, they then have another 28 days to respond. So, it's not a quick answer if you choose to go down that route. Can you not ask to speak to the practice manager or one of the higher ranking people?

yeah well most of my dads mates that i know who were on injectables but came off them have ended back on the smack, shows what they doing for the public :/ wenlock i think its gonna be a process of us trying our best to take a legal route of this, surely they cant destablise a patient? i just dont get it surely there is some kind of thing that has be gone through for them to do this, they said me and my mum should not have picked his script up, they said over the phone htey assumed he was in hospital, did they fuck !! they are pricks, if i find this doctors adress i wont be held responsibility !

how do you know this wenlock? could you show me some evidence i will need to take with me tomorrow with my dad

If they assumed he was in hospital then surely they would have known that the hospital would have prescribed him anything required. Seems like they are passing the buck and it's simply down to a cost cutting exercise. Try forwarding an email to your local MP, can't hurt and if it doesn't help, you've wasted five minutes on an email.

Don't do anything stupid though, that won't solve anything.
