LOL Hey guys,
I created that subject kind of as a joke because I get a kick out of people who create the "swim" posts, which I guess is to prevent self incrimination which I don't think would actually really work anyway, but when they create those posts they sometimes use their pets, a pet rock, their car, some really fun and funny ways of not using swim since we don't even use that here.
Anyway, my question is simple. As you guys already know, when I am in serious pain, I will sometime shoot my morphine so that I don't have to wait the hour for it to take affect. On occasion though a weird thing happens (well weird too me). I know that I am in a vein, and I know that I'm not tied off too tight, but as soon as I spike the vein, there seems to be so much pressure that the spike alone caused blood to cause a bubble that looks like I'm skin popping. I haven't even pushed the plunger any, infact, I am drawing back a little when I go in to cause a vacuum to insure that I am in the right place.... So technically the blood should have a place to go which is right up the barrel rather then creating a bubble under the skin.
It's a weird thing to watch because I will be right under the skin, then I spike the vein and POP there goes the bubble (as I call it) yet I am still able to draw back and then slider 'er down and push it in. I can tell when it's gone in because I feel flush and hot. I can't push it too fast because I get extreme histamine release and for about two minutes my body will itch all over and it is a damn deep, nothing I can due to relax the itch even a tiny bit but wash down with a cold wash cloth and wait until it passes. I brought that up to show that I am not causing the bubble by pushing too hard and bursting the vein or anything.
I normally use a 25G or 27G depending on what is in stock at the place I order them from and unfortunately I can't use insulin rigs because the syringe's are too small like no more then a 1cc and when your doing a 60mg pill, you don't have enough water mixed in otherwise it would be like syrup and clog the rig, plus I don't think I would be able to go slow enough to prevent the itch with anything that small.
Does anyone have any ideas what I could be doing wrong or anything I could do to prevent this? Once this happens, that vein is shot for days upwards of a week or too because it has to heal and it tender for a long time. I always put pressure on it immediately after, I'm done, I put a piece of gauze over it to stop the bleeding, and message the area for a few minutes while my heating pack heats up, then I put a heating pad on it for 20 minutes or so, to allow my body to reclaim all the blood in the bubble. It doesn't usually bruise that bad because I treat it right away, but it does stay sore and unusable for a long time.
Just curious if this happens to anyone else and if anyone has some ideas.
Thanks a bunch, I trust everyone had a Happy Holiday and has a very Happy New Year!
