December 16th, 2014

Officers in Alberta have arrested several members of the La Familia gang allegedly connected to Mexican drug cartels.

The arrests were made following an investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), which is made up of police teams who focus on serious and organized crime, typically involving gangs, drug trafficking and child exploitation.

According to a statement released Tuesday, La Familia, which also has connections with the Mara Salvatrucha gang, is believed to be trying to gain control of the drug trade in Alberta.

ALERT has scheduled a news conference to discuss its findings on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

These are some nasty people to compete with - even so far north of Mexico.

Competition probably ratted them out, but with the resources they have, you can bet they'll be back, unless something radical is done with respect to drug policy in Canada and America. Something as in little to no more demand for Mexican smack, ice, weed, etc.

With the money they rake in annually, they'd have no problem overwhelming law enforcement in Canada.

The Canadian government can plead their case to Uncle Sam and ask him to tighten up on gun regulations, but they'll be ignored, and the Mexican cartels will continue to receive all manner of firearms smuggled across the U.S. - Mexico border.

With their current membership, armaments, and finances, the drug cartels would - at the very least - make a formidable and especially barbaric/ruthless militia.

As the years go by, left unchecked, they will continue to swell, and even U.S. law enforcement won't be able to control them. What then? Declare war on Mexico? How many decades will that last?

Such foolish policies; such reckless passiveness.
