Mornin' fella's and felasses.
Got my first appointment with the Substance Misuse Clinic today for opioid and benzo dependence.
Anyone got any advice or any experience of what is likely to happen? :/
Morning Sprout, terrifying read about your Od in the RC thread

Scary stuff indeedy. I know nothing about the chem you took but that duration is mental..
Regards your visit to the Substance Misuse services. Obviously there are differences between one place to the next. If it's anything like my experience - and I've plenty - you'll have an induction on your first visit to them. A lot of questions regarding your DOC and it's daily effect on your life. They'll talk you through possible options of treatment, maintenance, home detox, rehab placement further down the line etc...
You usually just meet your key worker on the first visit so they will refer you to see their doctor, in my experience this won't be the same day, could be tomorrow, end of the week, next week etc... Depending on the options you discussed with your key worker the doctor will prescribe the meds required for the style of treatment and talk you through the usual does and do nots of the meds. Your worker is usually present for this also. They may run some blood tests, for diseases, liver function test etc and the usual blood pressure and what not..
You will most likely have to go on daily supervised pick ups from a Chemist of your choosing for the beginning of your treatment which can be a real pain in the ass, how long this is for will be dependent on the services on policy and how you play the game regarding urine or saliva swabs on your ime fortnightly appointments, no dirty samples you'll serve the minimum, could be a few months before they give you takeout
It's all pretty dull and as you would expect that... A good key worker is worth their weight in gold, you find a lot of them to be fairly clueless, especially about the RC scene, more often than not they'll have no idea about what it is your taking unless it's your basic heroin, crack....? This may be problematic with them prescribing an appropriate dose to suit your needs best. Just listen to your body and get straight on the phone to them to adjust your dose accordingly.
All the best with it. Hope it works for you
