annoyingly, I tried to ring in repeatedly to tell them I couldn't come in and I couldn't get through to anyone, they kept me on hold for ages long past when my aopintment was.

It wasn't my actual sign-on date but my adviser wanted to see me. What's the best way to deal with this?

yeah wot mdb said depending if your advisors a cunt which most are, u could get sanctioned and your money stopped. Im so happy i dont have to deal with them cunts anymore. my advisor was the biggest twat ever. i was sanctioned the second time we met. And id never been sanctioned before, never late, missed appointments, was nice and polite. Some of them just enjoy being cunts, stopping your money and making life hell, with decisions to make like no food for a month or no electric. I am nmot keen at all on what the conservatives did to the job centers. I really hope we get labour back next year. Although they r only marginally better

You might be sanctioned but you might be able to get out of it, i got out of 1 before for pretty much the same shit i missed an appointment because the train got canceled. They report it and then a decision is made and you can get lucky

Hexagram, if your phone has proof that you dialled the number, and were on hold for ages, that will help a lot. If it wasnt an official signing on you shouldnt get sanctioned. I'd go in and see them today though, to clear things up. If you just leave it and dont do anything it will look worse.

I don't think I got sanctioned, my advisor seemed pretty content that iI was genuinely ill and tried to call in beforehand. Not something I'm going to make a habit of though.

I hate being on the dole. Only thing keeping me going atm is the knowledge that no matter how grim it is, it IS only temporary. Things will get better.

I also wish that people who slag off jsa and think we're 'scroungers' have no idea how miserable it is, and how much most people on jsa would much rather be working.

i hate this 35 hour thing, you have to spend so much time going through the motions of proving that you're doing stuff that it lessens what time you have available to look into stuff that you'd really like to do. I spose its a good way of making sure you get into the habit of applying for jobs, which is better than not doing anything, but not by much if you're merely going through the motions of applying for jobs you have no intention of doing, just in order to comply with their requirements. Its entirley down to their judgement whether you are perceived as doing that or not.:\

and if they do sanction you ask for a reconsideration, if they don't reconsider appeal, even if they tell you not to. system would fold if everyone did that. bitch sanctioned me once without telling me that's what she was doing and yes making contact with the fuckers is a nightmare. I'm not going to start on a dwp dhss rant!

they will most likely give a warning letter if it's your first time, my adviser is a CUNT, told me friday and writes thursday in the book, i said to her you told me friday and all i got was "i deny that" even the stupid security guard came up pretending to do some thing, altho i still think that cunt need chair upside her fucking face

wots this 35 hours thing? let me guess u av 2 spend 35 hours a week looking and applying for work LOL fucking jokers

i coud rant for hours about the useless arkward cunts, and some r on some major power trips, just cus they know u really need the money, and have to jump thru every fukin hoop they tell u too

People really only slag of people who were ill because they got too fucked up on drugs the night before.

Which you did.

You had one fucking thing to do. If you play up you got to still get up.

your guess is correct. :\

2 minutes to apply for the one job thats available, and 34.58 hours playing Solitaire. 8(

I feel sorry for the people that dont have the internet @ home and have to spend 35 hours a week at the JC, id go to the library instead, jesus, thats a much less depressing option, plus they're not going to be physically watching you all day. Maybe the people that have to do that have been warned about getting a sanction unless they do that, as the advisors have felt they havent been putting in the hours.

You don't need to, because those people don't exist. How many computers, desks, etc. would a job centre need to accommodate that? You can book time on a computer, but I think it's only 1 or 2 hour blocks at most.

You are getting massively worked up about this 35 hours thing. If anyone actually did that, they'd spend 17 hours filling out their activity report alone. All you need to do is fulfil the specific and unchallenging requirements in your agreement. They have no way of knowing how long it all took you, so don't worry about it so much. :)

I dont think i have ever seen a smile at the dole center, G4S wouldn't have that.
