I have been seeing a pain management doctor for about 5 months now and I am currently taking hydrocodone 10/325 9 times a day. We recently did a genetic test bc I am not gettin hardly any releif from this and my doctor was worried that I might be a drug seeker since it's such a high dose and I am only 19. The test showed that my enzyme doesn't convert hydrocodone to the more active metobolite hydromorphone correctly basically I need more of it that most people for it to work and since 10/325 is the strongest dose and I can't take more than 9 a day bc of acetaminophen (really 9 a day is scary enough) so I have to switch to somthing stronger. I wanted to go to oxycodone bc I feel that is the next step and I have taken oxycodone before for previous injuries and have had results. But he won't prescribe me that bc of the enzyme problem. So he insists I either get off of the narcotics or go to morphine. I don't want to be on morphine at 19. So I have decided to go to a different doctor. My question to my fellow bluelighters is how do I cancel treatment with this doctor? I don't want to go to a different doctor and get in trouble bc they think I'm trying to get narcotics from 2 different doctors.

what the hell man, morphine is just an opiate like hydro or oxy, what's the fuss all about? are you afraid to end up on smack or something? not like oxy would be any better in that case.

good luck though man

Bc I have an 4 month old daughter that somtimes wakes up in the middle of the night hungry. I know that when I'm on oxycodone I wake up with her. I've never had morphine so idk if I'm gunna wake up or if I'm going to be able to drive around.

Marophine is not as strong as you are thinking. I really do believe that the morphine would be OK. But we are all different. Good luck.

You're over reacting like every one else said it's only morphine. Keep in mind oral morphine is no were near as intense as IV morphine. It still works great for pain orally but doesn't impair you any were close to the way you think it does. If anything it will impair you less than hydrocodone. Just take it as your doctor prescribes it to you and everything should be fine. Did your doctor mention the dose of morphine he wanted to put you on?
My doctor putting me on morphine for my severe pain changed my life for the better.

Ah i see that now oral BA is 10% for morphine. Okay thanks fellas. He said if be on short acting 15mg every 4 hours so 6 a day

Yep like everyone said, it's "just" morphine, it's fairly weak. See how you feel on it; if you're fully functional on oxy then you should be fine on morphine too, just give yourself a few days to acclimate.

I was on MS Contin 15mg for a while and they actually didn't do jack for me, even chewing them up and eating multiple ones at a time. I wouldn't worry about the potency. You can start small if you're worried about it, but it is less potent than the other stuff you've been taking to a large degree.
