Watched a couple of documentaries today.

First one was: Radioactive Wolves - if you can get past the ridiculous name & the American style/narration, it's not too bad. Essentially a documentary on the impact of on the wildlife, mostly wolves, inhabiting Chernobyl restricted area since the disaster. I would have liked a little more of the science, in terms of actual levels of radiation in the diet of the animals & the animals themselves. Still worth a watch.

Also, been anticipating it for a long time but I just watched the first episode of Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey.

Fantastic to watch in HD. Lots to look at & I learned a few things I hadn't yet found out such as Giordano Bruno first envisaging an infinite universe. Certainly leaves me eager to get stuck into the series properly. I had kind of meant to watch Carl Sagan's one first but hey... I'll get around to that at some point.

I've been away from BL for a while and when I came back this thread was one of the first things I looked at because I bloody love documentaries. But, I was a little bit disappointed that nobody has mentioned the documentary that I appeared in. I'm kind of tempted to post it but I don't think I will because it will probably make it a bit too obvious who I am IRL. (Although anybody who really wanted to do that probably could anyway)
Meh. I just like being cryptic and mysterious :p

watched Stephen Fry's Word series, as suggested previously in this thread. Very entertaining! I was actually amazed at some of the people on the show, I mean I didnt even know the guy who invented Pin yin is alive!

Finding this quite interesting - it's volunteer training for a psychedelic harm reduction tent/facility, similar to what Kosmicare does in the UK. Some interesting points raised - Zendo Project Psychedelic Harm Reduction - Volunteer Training 20148

Cryptic indeed. :sus:

Surprised no-one has mentioned the new David Attenborough series yet... Life Story.

The first episode, First Steps, is just as it sounds really. About the challenges offspring have to go through early in their life. I think probably the best part of the show was the cliff-jumping goslings. Fuck me that's a long way to jump when you can't actually fly. 8o

Guys I know there are alot of good documentaries here... but I guarantee you.. that this documentary is a must see... it has changed the way I see history.. I cannot express my hatred for how Hitler was treated.. now I know I have said Hitler and alot of you might be annoyed that I think he is a " Hero "... you just watch this documentary and you will see

"Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past."

I dunno... I'm as liberal as they come but would still struggle to justify Hitler and Nazism. In fact I'd flat out fail without resorting to really, really bad and heavily disproved conspiracies even I won't subscribe to due to being blatant bollocks. To be honest, I <3 this kinda stuff. Perhaps for different reasons to yourself. Is mainly the running time that's put me off bothering with this one so far. Could you lend a brother a hand here? In what sense does anything this fella describes take away from the cold-blooded murder of millions of people? Cos that's a dealbreaker frankly.

And bear in mind the bogdstandard Holocaust denial bullshit is old hat and been disproved a gazillion times over even by the most ardent of conspiracy theorists (who aren't also determined-to-be racist scumbags).

Also, the fact that History is written by the victors is obvious. We all know that "The Allies" were responsible for a disgusting amount of what went on under the Nazi flag. And still is under different flags. None of this excuses in any way what Hitlerism accomplished. If you can find some way of formulating this that somehow excuses what was done go for it. If not, keep your scumfukkery away from decent people or try to defend it and expect (deserved) vitriol in return.
