Cocaine HCl Dissolving in Water

How fast should cocaine HCl dissolve in room temperature water? As powder? As rock? Some sources say pure coke should dissolve like snow dropped on warm water.
 
I tested a batch today and although it completely dissolved, it took a few seconds. Definitely not like snow on water. So I was wondering if the cocaine dissolved first and what took longer were cuts.

Solubility of cocaine HCl in water at 20C is 1.8-2.5g/100mL

A simple A/B will remove any impurities.

Go buy a can of starting fluid. The yellow one with the word "stone" in it. It contains diethyl ether. Turn the can upside down and spray out all the propellant. Make a hole in the can and retrieve the ether.

Dissolve a strong base (KOH[potassium hydroxide], NaOH[sodium hydroxide, lye]) in water and let cool.
Heat a separate amount of plain water to just under it's boiling point.
Place your product in a glass container and crush to a fine powder.
Using an eyedropper, slowly add the HOT water to your product DRIPWISE, until it is just barely dissolved.
Filter out any solids and discard. These are impurities. Keep the water.
Add an equal volume of the water you dissolved the KOH, NaOH, etc. in, mix well and allow to settle.
An oil layer will form on the top of the solution. This is freebase cocaine.
Add ether equal to half the volume of the cocaine solution, mix well and allow to settle.
Two distinct layers (phases) will separate from the solution. The bottom layer is water and impurities, the top layer is the ether and your product.
Separate the phases however you want to.
Now you can boil off the ether or better yet, distill it off, and you will be left with fairly pure freebase cocaine.

What you did:
Adding a strong base to your cocaine HCl strips off the hydrogen and chlorine, creating a freebase. The freebase form is not soluble in water, and is readily soluble in oil. You add a nonpolar solvent (oil based) and the freebase cocaine dissolves into it, leaving behind any water soluble impurities. The ether is then removed, leaving freebase cocaine behind.

To turn your freebase back to the HCl form, dissolve it in a nonpolar solvent and either bubble HCl gas through it to precipitate the salt, or acidify a small amount of water using HCl and add it to the ether. The freebase will form the HCl salt, then dissolve in the water. Separate the water and evaporate it to get your HCl back.
