I believe that this is the appropriate thread. If not, mods feel free to move it elsewhere.

My question is: How long ago did humans start cooking food for nourishment? I've tried googling this question, but I found different dates that very significantly. Please don't attach a 2 hr article as the answer. My concentration does not serve me that long. I'm interested to see your replies.

Thanks

Dude mammoths were made for the ice age. Thus the "woolly" in their name.

Related viewing and not a bad hypothesis, all in all

I'm gonna watch the video when I get a chance. :D

As for the mammoths: A definitive explanation for their extinction has yet to be agreed upon. The warming trend (Holocene) that occurred 12,000 years ago, accompanied by a glacial retreat and rising sea levels, has been suggested as a contributing factor. Climate alone is unlikely to have played a decisive role. The spread of advanced human hunters through northern Eurasia and the Americas around the time of the extinctions, however, was a new development, and thus might have contributed significantly. There is evidence to suggest that humans did cause the mammoth extinction, although there is no definitive proof. They may have fallen victim to an infectious disease or died out as rising sea levels shrunk the land...
There's even efforts to de-extinct the specie.
