Haha no, I'm the guitarist. We had a drummer for a while. It was amazing and we were really starting to sound pretty awesome. But alas, he screwed his life up, got kicked out of college, couldn't pay rent anymore ect. It was a shame, we're on good terms now and he's a nice guy, but his life still needs a lot of work. So once again my band is a two man outfit.

What kind of music do you play? My band is a doom/stoner metal group, taking inspiration from bands like Electric Wizard, Sleep, Om, and Acid King.

love me some Om...for several years my forte has been Jazz Infused Technical Death Metal but for the last six months I've traded my bass for a guitar with an un-named jamband project that is turning out to sound like something between Blue Oyster Cult and The Grateful Dead minus the drums

I went through a big death metal phase as well, years back. I actually got the logo from the band "Death" tattooed on my leg. Still love death metal, but as I did more and more psychedelics my playing just sort of morphed into doom.

What kind of gear do you use?

I LOVE OM, and stoner metal and everything bassy

I wanna play stoner metal drums forever. Banging on the cymbal as hard as you can is one of the best things ever. The fact that the tempo is so slow allows you to wind up more for each cymbal hit and add more force. I was in a stoner drone band called TREE and i'll miss it forever 8)

That is dedication . I love the fact Fenriz from Darkthrone has a Plastikman tattoo, totally unexpected and awesome :D

Myself, I've never been able to get into much death metal TBH, but I was (and am) a big black metal fan. Though I find myself uninterested in the typical BM groups, having destroyed most of the classics through over-listening when I was young... I find bands like Darkspace, Alcest, Wolves in the Throneroom, Paysage d'Hiver, Burzum, Drudkh (despite their Nazi associations) that are more atmospheric and textural. They fit well into my love for ambient/soundscape music, along with doom/drone, glitch, martial, post-rock, found-sound etc. many genres trying to do (to my mind) similar things...

Hell ya, nice to see some people with similar tastes as myself. Sunn0 and Uffomammut are pretty awesome, I hadn't heard Conan before, but I'm digging it.

I never got much into black metal, but I do appreciate the genre and can dig the atmosphere of it. I'm not into a lot of newer death metal, the scene got kind of stale in my opinion. One of the few newer death metal bands I really like though is Gojira. I saw them open for Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom back in 2005 and was blown away.

I'm in the same situation, I still love to write death metal but can only listen when in a certain mood. Right now I have a D 5 series LTD 5 string bass and use a loaner Ibanez of the SA series. And yourself? Also, LOVE Gojira, got to see them with Beneath The Massacre at Mr Small's cathedral back in highschool.

Very cool, my bass player uses a 5 string Ibanez, they sound amazing. I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard (washed cherry sunburst) which I keep in B Standard tuning. I recently got a little Orange Amplifier for practice, but my main amp for years has been a 90 watt solid state Fender. Think I'm switching to Orange permanently though, the tone on this little thing is killer. Also, I've been eyeballing an Electro-harmonix Big Muff pedal lately, think I might buy it after payday.

Did you guys ever record anything? A good drummer is an under appreciated part of a great stoner/drone/doom band.

My band's name is Microbicide, haha. My bass player came up with it years ago while we were stoned. At the time we were into death/grind type stuff and thought it sounded cool. Since then we've just been too lazy to change the name.

I really don't get the whole tattoo thing, though I can appreciate those that are dedicated and artsy about it (we'll see how things are when they are no longer young). It's no big deal, now facial piercings are a big turn off for me.

I may or may not have stated so recently (maybe I just thought about doing it? I'm often feelin' proper while posting, so my memory is less than reliable), but I maintain that this song is underrated.

, your exactly right M. is an amazing anime. I love a lot of it actually.

Well then, I gotta ask whether you've seen my less known (only fan translations into English) candidate for any best anime list, and my favorite space opera, Legend of the Galactic Heroes? It features an unreasonably large cast of well written characters, where you can't help but root for both sides of the 110 episode war (not to mention such instances as the good guys attempting a coup against the good guys on the same side). It poses interesting questions to the audience, with a conflict that eventually centers around an enlightened autocracy fighting a corrupted democracy, and the short vs long-term moral implications of both forms of government.

Saturday morning while the rest of my crew were off checking out the festivities before breakfast, I decided I'd see if the DMT I had was still any good. I kinda figured it was dud, so I sprinkled what I guess to be ~30mg onto a half loaded cone, then sandwiched with a bit more weed. Positioned my chair nicely just in case it did anything, gently got the weed burning and slowly pulled the whole cone into the chamber, inhaled the contents, and held my breath....

In a few seconds I felt off base a little, then by about 15 seconds in hit. Wow. It still works, and very well!

After I come down and gather myself, I can't resist another, larger hit.

Same deal, probably around 50mg this time. Fuck it lol.

Lay down on the picnic blanket, light, pull, inhale.....and for the next 10 or so minutes, I ceased to exist. Absolute, without a doubt, complete and utter destruction of ego and sense of self. The few times I sat up and opened my eyes, everything was either shining, dancing, and growing all over the place, or a spectacularly beautiful mess of colour and fractals that didn't look any different at all whether my eyes were open or closed. A few times I legitimately couldn't tell and had to squeeze them shut just to make sure. The only times I really pulled myself back to realise I had a physical body was to make sure I hadn't pissed myself hahaha

Best view for a breakthrough, considering I didn't even have to leave the campsite :D
