OD`s at safe injection sites in Vancouver

I use to live in Van and the east side is as bad as anywhere in the world with heroin. I don't live in Van anymore, yet saw on news there were I think 11 OD`s one day and 14 OD`s the other this past weekend. I don't know if anyone here is in Van and can shed some light on this. or WTF is going on out west again.
 
Do they not have naxelone ready to be administered there?

Or was it because a bad batch of H that was so heavily cut with potent fentanyl or fentanyl analogues was floating around that the naxelone was useless?

25 OD's during one weekend? This must have something to do with the dope.8o

The number is 31 OD's and yes, fentanyl is suspected. Only one death though.

I think they count any instance where they have to use naloxone as an OD.


I think your right on how they count OD`s. There would have been allot of dead people down in the allys on hastings st without naloxone

Thankfully Vancouver has InSite and naloxone distribution, or this could have been a hell of a lot worse.
 
Sorry to resurrect a dead thread here, but this past wknd I was in Vancouver for a wedding and took a day to myself to check out the dope scene on the lower Eastside...plus, I have wanted to see Insite ever since it was first starting the kind of ridic controversy that continues to this day;) (After all, WHY provide any help for our fellow human beings, should they happen to be addicted to drugs, mentally ill, and/or unable to secure stable housing?) I work in frontline social services, believe in HR, and am also a drug addict (semi-in-recovery)...so for all those reasons, it was great to see what a clean, quiet, professional and positive part of the area Insite looked to be.

A dude I met, who sold me some *very* good dope (the first non-pharm opiate I had done in a couple of years), was even passing out the clean rigs and other gear that Insite had given him:)

But wow! I'd never seen an open-air market like the one in Van before in my life, shit truly was crazy.:D
 
^Thanks for sharing inthetriptank, I haven't read many personal stories (just news reports), about InSite and the area surrounding it in Vancouver.
