Benzos Benzo Tolerance; is this normal?

I have been abusing benzos for quite a while. I can go through 30mg xanax to 40mg etizolam in a night. Recently, I've been trying diclazepam. This drug is supposed to be active around ~1mg but I find myself needing 20-30mg to get a good effect. The diclazepam was analyzed by HNMR by me and is of good purity. I realize that 1mg etizolam/xanax/diclazepam should be roughly equivalent, but this still seems strange. Is it possible for one to become tolerant to this level?

Hi prodigy, so I'm not a chemist or a pharmacist, but from everything i've learned, all Benzos act on the same receptor, GABA-A, so they tend to have a significant cross-tolerance. A variety of factors so affect this however, including usage, duration if usage, metabolic rate, etc. It would seem to me that bc you are using so many mgs of xanax, that it will affect the sensation of any other benzo you consume.

Personally, I've used xanax off and on for long periods of time. I find that, even after daily use, that if I take two weeks off from using anything whatsoever, the smallest amount will affect me in a profound way. For instance, i recently was using about 4mg/day, then the market went dry and so i was forced to stop. Two weeks later I found some again, and it only took .5mg to get a nod (i mix my benzos with other drugs that I cld never safely recommend mixing them with, but the buzz is next to none).

I've been using benzos,mainly Xanax,regularly for years and it takes me about 20 mg of Xanax(or the equivelant of other benzos)to really get me high.Even then I have to take a full week of no benzos to get high from them(6 days of none,dose on the 7th day).It doesn't matter which ones I take(I'm RX'd Xanax)but if I take say,Valium one day(even a fairly low dose like 50mg) I still need the 6 days off/dose on the 7th day break to really get what I want from them,no easy task when you really do need them but I'll just drink extra and take more pain meds to combat the panic attacks and anxiety untill then.BTW,this being a harm reduction site I must make the obligatory disclaimer that what I'm about to say is totally not safe and has killed many experienced druggies so I am not advising that you do this.I'm merely saying that when I mix Xanax,whisky and Percocet,it not only kicks the benzos in better but combines into some kind of (for me anyway) kick ass fourth drug that is just the bee's knees (I know,a term straight out of the 1940s huh?).I just have to strike the right balance or else I find the alcohol kinda overpowers the benzos.It's my favorite combo high ever though,used to be heroin,benzos and liquor but I stopped the heroin thank God.But yeah,try the 6 days off/dose on 7th day trick.works for me and I have a huge benzo tolerance (sounds like you do too,from your stated dosages).Give it a try,I think you'll be pieasantly surprised.On day #5 I can sort of get off some but not the benzo oblivion I like on occasion.And yeh,no matter which benzo you do,you'll need the break to get what it sounds like you're after.

Hey, that is not " strange" when it comes to the tolerance, however benzo's act incredibly different in each individual. However be safe, if you truly are taking that much you run a very VERY high risk of seizures if for some reason you quit or cannot get enough. I honestly would see a doctor eating that many benzo's is unnecessary for any human and just be safe and do not mix.

My heart almost stopped from just 4mg of xanax and 40mg oxycodone the other day. I was hospitalized

Yes, I agree. These things happen more often than we think.
Also, after a certain quantity, it does not add up, like it would normally be do some opiates.
It´s different I know. Have you tried long term acting benzos. Valium in that sense is very good. But it just gets harder and harder.
You can try to decrease, whatever amount you succeed is already much better than increasing it. And risking seizures like the post above from Earth Bounded.

Receptor specific tolerance? Say benzo X has high affinity for GABRA1 and less for GABRA3 you'd expect the body to take more rigorous steps in down regulating GABRA1 subtype resulting in higher tolerance at that site. Then when you take benzo Y which for instance only has affinity for GABRA1 your subjective experience will vary due to the substance's binding profile. This is just speculation of course but it sounded like a plausible explanation in this instance.

Not weird at all. On my last xanny binge I was doing it every day for only about less than two weeks. My doses on the first day made my last day look like a big pussy. First > 1mg, last > 18-24mg without even blacking out. Withdrawals fucking suck. I highly suggest you taper down and stop good sir.

for someone who has been a long time junkie like myself, it still blows me away to hear people take 20MG+ of benzos. I always used it w/ dope, so it was always a mix for me, but even at my worst I was only doing 4-6MG daily, and the withdrawals still sucked and caused me to have seizures, so be careful.

nowadays ill take 1MG a night and just sleep like a baby! sometimes ill take 2MG and be knocked the fuck out!

god bless you peeps who smash down as much as you do; I cant even imagine that. how do you guys feel? very laid back? open and easy? blacked out? seriously, when taking that much how do you feel?

I wonder that too; when I was at my max I was at 8mg xanax a day, and I can't remember most of those weeks.
Do people just learn to live blacked out..? Or does it settle down to a typical (but dramatic) benzo high?

As for OP I suggest tapering. That dose is ridiculous and you need to get off of them, or at least settle down a bit to where you can take 2mg and feel it.

xanny has always blacked me out for the most part; I never really had anxiety, I just took them to get high, black out, get fucked up, etc. maybe thats why? but yea, I was scripted 90 .5MG xanny a month and would blow through that in a few days and then have to buy the rest, but my main drug was dope, so maybe thats why I never even thought of using more than what I originally mentioned.

Well in my case, it was more of a rough patch of 2 weeks, I would only use at night, every night, redosing until I blacked out into a slumber. The final night I took 11 or 12 bars and didn't blackout(because I ran out) but was relaxed and slept hard
