So for people who have tried this.. What's the deal with it .. I'm familiar and know all about it , but does it really potentiate methadone.. Or opiates in general ? And about how much of it .. If it does

Never heard of it potentiating anything but i have heard of success stories with regards to easing withdrawal.

I used , to great success on wds - it's almost like cheating ...... Honestly
The only way it would potentiate is it can make you drowsy , but that's not much help .....

Opinions vary but the fact is that gabapentin prevents the ability of opiates to increase dopamine release from the nucleus accumbens so on paper it depotentiates them. It is also my experience that this is the case in vivo. It does increase the painkilling ability of them though, but if you are just taking them to get high I suggest you skip the gabapentin.

withdrawals yes, potentiating no. basically it can be used to turn you into a zombie whilst trying to get some sleep.

I was prescribed it for sciaatic pain from my back pain.the only thing I can say about is I built an almost instant tolerance. I was hoping for pain relief but I didn't get it. I agree with a couple posts above mine it won't get u high. At least I didn't feel anything from it. No pain relief, no nothing.

Gabapentin will not increase the opiate high but decreases it, however it does help with the withdrawal from opiates. Also entirely on it's own, you can get a very mild high from it in high doses. So all around gabapentin really isn't that great of a drug in my opinion.

I'm prescribed 2400mg twice a day along with my ope's, and I haven't noticed any potentiating effect compared to before being put on the Neurontin. I have noticed that it very slightly reduces w/d symptoms, but nothing to right home about.

*edit* Just figured I'd add that the only prescription med I've had any noticeable potentiating effect from is Venlaxafine (Effexor). It also helps ease my restlessness/shakes when I'm w/d'ing - but I've also talked to people who say it does just the opposite for them.

Gabapentin for rec use = some people love it and swear it works. Me, It got me high once and never again. I took it for medicinal purposes after that and it just stopped working. Lyrica , it's parent drug, DOES in fact potentiate opes and has a much much higher bio-availability. Also it's way fuckin expensive in comparison to generic gabapentin . There's no generic Lyrica available.

I am on gabapentin 800mg 4x a day along with tramadol 50mg 4x a day. I've noticed that the gabapentin can put you in a good mood when mixed with the tramadol. I have a high tolerance to opiates. (2 Back surgerys, spinal stenosis etc etc) & i still feel the tramadol better with the gabapentin. But hey everyonez body chemistry is different. Has anyone else ever favor this combo?

I've always found GABA TO give me a better nod.. As well as tagamet. Also during withdrawals it helps ALOTT

I have used various opiates with gabapentin and haven't noticed an appreciable difference in the high. I do keep pregabalin and gabapentin on hand for withdrawals, especially helps when I'm doing a 2-3 week taper with buprenorphine.
