Terence Mckenna quote!!!

But it was Dennis who went public with it. Perhaps it is all bullshit and perhaps it isn't. It wouldn't surprise me either way and it doesn't really affect my opinion of Terence. I enjoyed his books and whether or not he personally couldn't handle his high anymore isn't that important.

But it was Dennis who went public with it.

No it wasnt, Dennis has never made any kind of comment about the issue whatsoever, he has remained 100% silent right throughout the whole thing, never said a single word even though he did numerous interviews to promote his book. But he sold a lot of copies of his crap book because of it. Very fishy indeed.

The only place that the lie ever appeared was in a podcast that was rapidly removed from the website after its release, the podcast featured Lorenzo and Bruce Damer.

From the 1999 Entheogen Review, Volume 8 Number 4 Winter Solstice edition. One of Terence's last interviews and about his condition:

Interviewer (Jon): Have you cut back dramatically on any type of drug use?

Terence: At first I cut back on cannabis because it seemed to trigger seizures. But then I got that corrected. Now I am smoking as much dope as I ever did. I haven't been taking Ayahuasca, because vomiting reflex is too scary in terms of brain seizure reflex. They are really closely related. So I have been taking psilocybin. We happen to have some actual pure psilocybin, not mushrooms. And it's great. So I guess the answer is no (to the original question). I want to probe into it. I want to understand it. I mean obviously, death is a very big deal.

Statements and rumors make me never want to read a biography. I could only believe about 40%, unless it is an autobiography. My best example is the Miles Davis autobiography ("Miles") a great book and probably very accurate Unless a person states things themselves I take it with a grain of salt. I even take what a person says with a grain of salt. :D But here we have Terence saying he was taking psilocybin up till the end. For me, and in my opionion, there is no way in hell I would believe Terence stopped tripping completely as he was heading towards death. Exactly as I expected was what he wrote. He wanted to probe it and understand it. Maybe not the fungus, but certanly some form of psychedelic.

Again, I have no idea what the truth is, but I trust what Terence said more. If someone were to say things about my life (even my wife) it would probly be only 50% accurate.

Wow, Ram Dass and the guru taking acid, to Terence and his last trips! Lot's of things we probed this weekend by all of us posting. Good stuff. I like kicking it around. Sometimes we kick straight up bullshit, sometimes we kick around the truth of situation. I guess it is up to us to decide where some of the info falls.

I agree it's a great book jack but huge chunks of it are lifted almost verbatim from the JaCk Chambers biography "milestones". Chambers says Miles had spent 7 years taking 500 bucks worth of coke every day so his memory was shot to hell

Damer was reading from the Dennis book.

no he wasnt, Dennis' book makes no mention of any "bad trip", or any "extended shroom abstinence". As i said, the only place that these lies about Terence ever appeared was on the podcast which was rapidly taken off line after its release, no explanation was ever given, and both Dennis and Kathleen remained 100% silent on the whole issue right throughout, including in Dennis' book and all the interviews he gave promoting the book, he never mentioned it once.

On the internet, people will believe anything, never mind fact-checking or credulity. Terence would be turning in his grave if he could see how stupid his modern audience are.

But it was in the book before Dennis chose to remove it - that's what Damer was reading from.

Why doesn't silly Dennis come out and clear it up?
