Would be grateful if you could leave this thread here mods, as it's EADD specific and I'm not looking for tech help, just doing a reccy.

Seen a few people complaining about browsing and tech problems when tryin to post here, sometimes site wide.

Just interested in coming up with a list of who, and what the basic nature of their problems have been ie login issues, slow browsing, pages hanging, posts seemingly disappearing.

So, any folks experiencing these kinds of issues (especially) if its affecting your ability to post and its keeping you away, please feel free to detail it here, yo <3

Also, if you can remember ... exactly how long ago did you start to notice the problem, if youve got one, and details like does it happen at a specific time etc would be good.

I thought that was just me and my browser (Dolphin). Good to know I'm not the only one, It is annoying.

All I can say is oh the irony of the timing when you posted this and what was happening for me. Good luck with it all. Can someone please help Marmz sort it all out?

That's not a problem with Bluelight per se. You're using Chrome and it's warning you that one of the sites that is hosting a picture in that thread is a known malware source. If you click the "Details" link and then the "visit this unsafe site" link it will load. You might get another very similar warning but for a different site, do the same as before and then it'll load.

It doesn't bother me visiting that page even with those warnings but I understand that if you're not tech savvy to understand what it means then you're probably right in avoiding it. Try www.meatspin.com for alternative (NSFW) entertainment.

I am pretty internet savvy, but just reported this here so maybe it will be sorted

No I ain't that stupid... I used to put it on peoples computers at school lol

You spin me right round, baby right round...

There's not much BL could do other than perhaps block people posting URLs that have been blacklisted. Doing it manually would be a PITA, firstly due to the amount of posts and secondly the ever changing nature of the sites that host the stuff. I am not sure if any kind of plugin exists for vBulletin that can automatically do it, I imagine it does though.

For more detailed information about what the issue is, check out this Google diagnostic: http://safebrowsing.clients.google....266158568373.jpg&client=googlechrome&hl=en-US

I'm not looking for help for mine in this thread really. Im working on mine with folks external to BL.

Was more interested in finding out the extent or numbers of those with browsing problems here, and the nature of them.

For any folks who've got them and are not wanting to post publicly about them, maybe PM a mod to let them know instead?
Maybe Allein or Jules? Mods can then get an overview of the extent of the issue, if there is one.

I mainly post from a laptop running Linux Mint and use the Chromium Browser although I've tried Firefox and Opera.

Occasionally when I hit the post button the page hangs, the spinny thing is spinning but it never makes it, sometimes if I refresh the page it has posted sometimes not, I tend to CTL A and copy prior to posting and often use LibreOffice for longer posts because i have some issues with writing and shit.

This particular netbook has a shit wireless adapter that works even worse with Linux, its a documented issue with the Broadcom drivers, that said I have another laptop running Windows 7 and it does the hanging thing sometimes as well. I've had PMs go a bit a rye (sp?) as well, it kinda hangs on send and then I'm not sure if there sent or not and sometimes the sent box doesn't seem to update in real time.

All that said compared to the software shit I have to deal with at work it's a mere trifle, I'm not convinced these issues were present prior to the site upgrade and I do see a fair few posts from people complaining of losing big posts due to 'timeouts' , I've just got used to using the work arounds so the odd glitches don't bother me..YMMV;)

My pc has somehow acquired about 40 unwanted 'scripts' that i cannot get rid of, and makes browsing EADD a nightmare. It's full of ads, popups, embedded links in the posts, and other annoying things. Fortunately Firefox has a scipt blocker thing which i use, and every time i browse BL i have to turn off every script apart from BL, this means that embedded videos are blacked out, and the auto-spell corrector feature is disabled, but i can live with that.

Thank goodness I use my iPhone.

.

Ah right. Gotcha.

akamaihd.net seems to be script that causes the most problems. I need to turn that on to use FB, and off to use BL.

Anyone know of any script/malware removal software that doesnt have a catch to it, like installing a whole load of new nasties that it's supposed to be removing in the first place:?

So ATM you have no anti virus or Malware protection ? Read through this review :-

http://uk.pcmag.com/security-reviews/142/guide/best-free-antivirus-2014

If your machine is really in a pickle it may be easier to back up all your data (photos, music etc) to an external USB drive and then reload the OS, which I assume is Windows.

If your issues are exclusive to browsing have you tried a different browser, IE tends to suffer more issues because of it's wider distribution, much the same as Windows. I'm no Microsoft fan but the truth is that users suffer more virus, malware and other nasties because there are so many machines running Microsoft software.

For personal use I've switched to Linux Mint, it's free and you can load it from a UASB pen drive in less than an hour, it comes with Libre Office and everything else I need for a general use machine. Most versions of Linux can be run from the USB pen drive, this tends to be a little sluggish but gives you a chance to try it out and could get you out of trouble if your installed OS has gone west.
