Gibberings CLXXVI - We might have hit 100 before one of these dopey fuckers noticed

During my time living / dossing not a million miles from you (not that I know your exact location, so relax) I must say that I got that impression. It's the only place I've ever lived where I've had to be more wary of bumping into the police on a 3am stroll than I was of bumping into hoodlums, and I mean without having a pocketful of drugs and / or another reason to fear getting pulled. That was in a city too. I'm not saying it was crime free; just that there seemed to be a lot less petty theft.

Whereas the place I'd just escaped from in east Manchester, I actually saw somebody make off with a lamp post. Worlds apart.

Anyone here take or taken beta blockers? Sounds like i coulda probably do with some. gonna cut down on the ole speed after today anyway

Aye, that's a big worry for me regarding benzos. Seems there's a lot of evidence there, as there is for booze. Terrible, terrible condition which I wouldn't wish on anybody. :|

Why'd you need beta blockers? A month or two away from stims would probably see you right, and if the anxiety's still there once that rest period is over, then maybe then it's the time to consider them. Doctors seem relatively keen to hand them out, and they're far less problematic than benzos. I've never been prescribed them so I have nothing to offer in the way of experience, unfortunately.

Car insurance here is the cheapest in the UK because less cars get nicked than anywhere else. WHEREAS where I'd just moved from, Maida Vale/Kilburn Id just seen someone (while we'd been up all night on drugs) make off with a parking meter which took him a good half hour to saw in half too.

Why is everybody so keen to try such a non-event of a drug? It's not recreational by any stretch.

It can be pretty valuable in the treatment of physical symptoms of anxiety, sure, but if you feel that anxious then you should probably think about curbing your illegal drug use first before seeing a doctor. Trying to mask the symptoms of overindulgence with another drug is a losing game, and that's the bitterest of experience talking.

it's Propranolol.

not for recreation at all.

i am no different sober or with drugs. but drugs can possibly cause more problems.

[edit]
I only do drugs because they are fun.
*yah right, i am kiidding myself but w/e*

If you're extremely anxious either by nature or because of some underlying condition and you're attempting to self-medicate then propranolol would make sense. If you're looking for something to bring you down from a night's stim binge then it's pretty useless. Just seems odd to me that somebody would be keen on the idea of taking a drug with less recreational value than benzos, that's all!

Speaking of drugs with no recreational value, I've just confirmed that I won't have to book an emergency appointment in order to get a new script, as my updated script has indeed been put on repeat already. Which was what my doctor said, come to think of it, but nagging doubt took hold as usual.

Huge relief.

I've wanted to try propanadol

I've been scripted it in the past and didnt feel it anything much, I gather that as a Beta blocker it helps prevent that pounding heart that some suffer with anxiety such as stage fright.

It has zero recreational value IME

Got no anxiety from the stims, but my heart is partly what keeps me awake. gonna do some more reading about the beta blocker things, someone has offered to give me some

Oh, I'm not going to dismiss it because of the terrible name. It just sucks that these things are oh-so-cynically pitched. I may even give 'modafiendz' a go myself, as it appears that modafinil would probably work for me and wouldn't interact with anything.

even the dirt cheap genric modafinil works well for me, and that isnt a patch on the 'proper stuff' (which ive not tried as it's so expensive) according to some accounts. There are no w/ds even after weeks or months of usage so its low risk on that front. Inevitably tolerance does increase though, so it's more effective to take tolerance breaks every now and then.

If you're taking it for weeks or months then you probably need to see your GP anyhow, but it's nice to know it doesn't make you into a smelly, fiending, paranoid lunatic like consecutive days dosing speed can. Or maybe that's just me. Doubt it.

yeah those sort of negative side effects are quite non-existent. It's above all a purely functional stimulant. It can irritate something inside your gastric system if you take it on an empty stomach without atleast a little bit of some kind of food to line your stomach a bit, but that's about it.
