How fitting that you should post before my word of the day...

Shambles.

One meaning of which is a butchers slaughterhouse. Just saw it on some TV quiz or another... :D
 
Nope. I've not suffered nor inflicted that particular punishment on anybody thus far. I did happen to see it on an old episode of QI earlier though and thought it worthy of wider recognition =D

I must admit I was aware of the original meaning of the word 'shambles' for (perhaps fairly obvious) reasons given I chose to adopt it myself (for entirely different reasons, mind). There are several streets around the country still called The Shambles due to being original sites of shambles in the sense you mention. There was also a street called "Gropecunt Lane" in a place I used to live due to... even more obvious reasons. I used to work down it actually... not for the obvious reasons, mind. Apparently there are quite a few of those left too (although all have been renamed even if the new name hasn't become fully accepted locally in some places).

I see what you did there. You spelt brilliant wrong. :p

But more to your real point - just why does the word 'fucking' fit so perfectly in the middle of abso(fucking)lutely? It should be in the dictionary.
