i want to purify it as it seems to be less potent then the last 2 batches iv received, a heavy dose is around 80 - 100mg a medium dose is around 35 - 50mg.
suspicious that there is some impurities although, it does look like fine crystalline white powder, under a microscope its very fine crystals.
anyway what would be the best way to purify it a bit, a simple technique is what i'm after preferably using iso alcohol or everclear cause these will be easier to get than dry acetone or hexane. where could i buy dry acetone in AUS?

you do realize tolerance builds to MXE with regular use?

either way you probably have to do something like recrystallize it from chloroform or boiling alcohol or something. maybe even hot distilled water. but don't expect miracles

you may want to have it tested first before you go trying to purify it, it really helps if you know what it could be contaminated with.

i can't be bother getting it tested, i believe it's methoxetamine hcl. feels a lot similar to the last 2 batches i had, i just want a good tek for purifying it, cleaning it up using iso alcohol or acetone, preferably iso alcohol.
i have already dissolved 50mg in water with a bit of heat and recrystallized it, just a test.

Very dangerous to talk about boiling alcohol without warning the extremely huge risk. Airtight container in lukewarm water from a non spark source is a must. Bolling and flash points are important and I think fire point and autoignition temp is to. Using a thermometer in the water is important. If you don't have proper lab equipment, knowledge, or experience don't attempt it without an experienced person present. Even with proper equipment some prior experience or mentor is important.

That being said no one can tell you if it's pure except anyone who does a lab analysis on it for any impurity.

That being said I would not be able to help.... You could dissolve it in lab grade 99.99 % pure lab grade ethonal and then let it evaporate in hopes the crystals grow, but I doubt you'd make it better and it would not really clean it at all.

what about 99% pure isopropyl alcohol? could evaporate that to get chunky crystals? i have a fair bit.

Recrystallization is a very good way of selectively increasing a given compounds purity however if you don't know what contaminants maybe with the substance you may dissolve both the good with the bad.In theory by crystallizing the compound then washing it with a solvent that does not dissolve it then redissolving the compound and washing it several times each time the compound gets purer. However there is much more than just dissolving a given compound you need to know the chemistry of it and how it may be handled without changing it or damaging it. You could be in trouble if you put a oxygen atom in the wrong place ( or any other atom ). Not a whole lot of difference from H20 to h2so4 ( water to Sulfuric acid ). I would leave the chemistry to the chemists but beyond all else B-Safe. Please.

According to Wikipedia isopropyl won't work. Ethonal might

Edit: I second what sekio below said

If you don't know for sure it's impure, messing around with recrystallizations and the like is just going to waste your product. Just putting that out there.

You can probably recrystalllize it from boiling distilled water. Just be sure you're actually doing a recrystallization, not adding water then boiling it off again... and expect to lose probably 50-75% to the mother liquor if this is your first try.

If you are just adding solvent then evaporating it off again you're doing nothing but decreasing the purity... so don't think that getting big rocky crystals is a sign of high purity.

Again, I strongly suggest you get a GCMS test or at least run a TLC to see if there's anything mixed in. Or do a melting point test. I think SWGDRUG publishes a monograph for MXE.

Hmm, all I can say is anhydrous acetone is extremely easy to acquire, and easy to dry if yours is sold blended with water, but DEFINITELY don't try any methods using Lithium, Phosphorus, Perchlorates, Glycols, or any of those insane methods.

Stick to the acetone imo
