Is hiring a prostitute immoral?

Do humans trade sex for stones?
 
i am a little bit of a moral relativist, so, i believe that what is morally right and wrong is wholly a construct of human creation. there is no inherent morality to any action; it can only be judged as moral or immoral once the action has been performed and the side effects perceived.

so, it is what it is, and what it is, is what you make it out to be.
 
i don't really want to make any judgements on hiring prostitutes, its not my thing personally, but who am i to judge?
 
I've never done it, but I'm thinking about doing it. I would think it's less cheating on my part than getting a girl friend as there would be no feelings involved. But if the pro is not being trafficked, then I don't think it's immoral.
 
I wouldn't use the word immoral, even though in some cases it certainly is. Instead I'd call it pathetic.
 
in a utopian state, where all things were fair and equal, I would say yes, such a thing is immoral. However, we live in a vastly unjust world; we must live in the reality of where we live. As long as both parties are in complete agreement, I can't see where it is immoral. Society has a decidedly different stance. Much like the drug war has only made that situation worse, so has the war against prostitution. In making it illegal, you make the price go up. The more money involved, the more the greedy become involved. Prostitution did not create human trafficking, greed did. Legalizing and regulating makes more sense, but if taxation enters the picture, then the black market would continue to thrive.
 
Absolutely immoral. We all know certain morals are universal, and thus certain penances are also universal so say 67 Hale Garys and 14 I Love Lucys, make sure you dispose of the sex worker properly (ie paper is better for the environment than plastic) and never masturbate to the memory especially by the train tracks down on the East Side.
 
I don't think hiring a prostitute is immoral at all, as long as it isn't someone who you suspect may be vulnerable through abuse, drugs etc. It's a business transaction and as long as no parties gets hurt, directly or indirectly then I don't see a problem with it.

What IS immoral is having sex with girls (for free!) who may be interested in something more than just a fuck. Breaking hearts is immoral and completely avoidable.
 
What is immoral? As in to you? I wouldn't say there is a right or wrong answer. It depends on how one may feel with what he/she is making a choice to do. :)
 
I do not think that hiring a prostitute is immoral. Two consenting adults want to have sex and one gives another one compensation for it. I don't see how that is wrong.

As someone who has had experience working in the industry, I really don't see what the big deal is, but that is just me. I guess whether someone thinks it is immoral or not would be a matter of perception?

OK I'm sorry I found this amusing but I have read a lot about people who do this, and seen documentaries about them.

I feel bad for women and men who are prostitutes because it's very dangerous.
 
If this is just a business transaction, then perhaps soon people are going to trade other stuff like for instance their freedom for food or home. I've got a feeling this is going to be a paradise. Wait, is it not happening already? Are we all happy? Actually, the more important question is "which ones are happy?".

Some people are forgetting their actions may carry long-lasting consequences as a result and at first glance they may seem meaningless and unrelated. The fact that you can't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Deprive sex of feelings, deprive life of freedom, what is the difference? Whatever, let's do it.
