Void in the british dance music festival scene

I know some of the cunts who tried to organise it. Clowns.
Same here, I know a few of them. They bit of more than they could chew, although shangri la people who made the site and the ticketing company bare a large portion of the blame. (site wasn't as advertised to bloc - think there was a stage missing. and the ticket scanning didn't work properly so they just started letting people in)

related reading: Why is the European rave scene so much better than the American (IMO)?

and, if you think the scene sucks, what are you doing to make it better?

Ha, I'm not for a minute dissing the british rave scene. It's pretty god damn amazing :). I just feel there is a void left by a couple of festivals for people who love underground dance music. I'm hoping there will be something new coming along soon, or perhaps one of the ones mentioned in this thread!

As to what I'm doing to make it better, well I'm not involved in the industry so not all that much. Some of my friends run a soundsystem that tours festivals and I lent them some cash to get their van fixed. I also helped get some cash together to pay the mooring fee to keep the ms stubnitz in london after bloc fucked up. So yeah, I feel I do all I can. Why do you ask btw?

Also, do you think the rave scene is better here than in the US? I've never experienced it over there, so I have no idea.

Alasdair believes that you can't have a negative opinion of something if you haven't quit your job and sold your house to try and improve it yourself.

He's a prick.

"I don't like the constant war in the middle east?"
"Weeeeeellllll, what are yoooooouuu doing to make it better? Hmmmmmmm?"

Fuck off.

The masses are bored of underground dance music it was kicked to death here for too many years. The next generation are as happy havin a pill watching their fav band or having a song song than going into a noisy techno tent full of mentalists:sus:

my comments were not addressed solely at you. if i'm addressing somebody specifically, i'll generally quote the point i'm addressing to make that clear.

i ask because i'm a big believer that replacing a lightbulb is preferable to moaning about the darkness.

i see comments (online) a lot which say something like "this sucks. i wish somebody would...". well, if your (ones) approach to problem solving is always waiting for somebody else to come along and fix it, it will never get fixed most of the time.

three of the top ten dance events i've ever attended were events i threw myself (with help from many friends). great music, great crowds, great events and lucrative to boot.

it depends on what you mean by 'rave' scene. i mostly listen to (psy)trance and so the events i tend to attend are smaller, focused events where the music and atmosphere is very tight-knit but welcoming.

that said, i've been to a few events in london. escape from samsara at the fridge a few times - always excellent. i also attended a huge event at that club under london bridge station when alien project were playing and it was equally excellent.

i don't believe that at all.

you were doing so well then you had to go and spoil it. when you have to resort to insults, it speaks volumes about your contribution.

I hear you. Glade was so special, a perfect combination of hippies and generally sound people/wreck-heads. Full to the brim of psychedelics and wicked music.

The Liquid stage in the woods was so fucking cool last time.

We had a camp Bluelight back in 2007 which was nothing short of amazing <3

Yeah, there's certainly a gap.

Did anybody go to that Noisly Festival?

Edit: Looks fucking incredible!

Shit fuck bollocks I've probably been in the same room at the same time as you at some point. Oh well.

That's more than a little :sus:

I used to go to Return to the Source at The Fridge a fair bit and Club 404 just around the corner, it would have been the later 90's

Yeah I remember wondering about tripping one year and someone came up to me asking if I knew anyone with any 2c-t-7. I said no but I have some 2ci, which he was happy to take. Then we both cracked up laughing at the ridiculousness of the transaction. Where else but glade would you get such a specific request!

2007, was that the year of the flood? I remember that vividly, actually had a wicked time even with the near dangerous conditions. Good times!
