cash machine advice, swallowed card

Please, please help!!! Does anybody know what go do if a cash machine swallows a
Euro card in a foreign country???? I am here for a month, on my 4th day and a cash machine has swallowed my card with all my money on, ghe way I see it is I am totally FUCKED. So much so that I have signed up here after lurking for years as I have seen that someone usually has the answer to a problem... it would be so greatly appreciated ... I have spent €300 + on excellent coke tonight and the problem may be that ive exceed my daily withdrawal limit, but I 100% need the card back.....
 
Srs? Tell your bank they will get a new card to you, if you are in the same hotel ot should be simples as they say on the telly. If thats a no go western union is your friend but that is the pricy option.
 
FROm past experience, I have left my card and money before at the ATM, they suck them back in so all i well. Abroad? Ive no fucking clue, ring your bastrd bank we cant sort it for you can we? Euro card, im not sure though sounds like one of them tesci cards where you pput money onto them and is like a credit card? I llost mine and they sent me a new one within 3 dys

call your bank, or call the bank whose ATM you were using. they sometimes have a tel number on the machine itself... they can get you your card back in a few hours, but prepare to show id.

What's more is that if you don't pick up your card the very next day, they could send it to their main office. That is what happens here if a card is swallowed and not picked up right away. So go to the bank first thing when it opens, if you're lucky you will get your card back right away
 
When this happened to me, my card was destroyed by default because it the bank only kept cards that were from their branch. We are talking in the Uk though, not abroad.
 
Probably not much help now but just figured I'd add my own experience to maybe help anyone else who bumps into this in future. I recently had my card sucked up by a machine here in Poland, and I ended up standing around waiting for around 20 minutes, hitting the buttons and trying everything I could to get it out. Eventually after hitting the cancel button a million times and waiting all that time, the machine restarted itself, and gave my card back.

Know it's probably obvious to some but in this situation it is a good idea to stick around a while in case this happens. I almost went home earlier and had I done that I would have had to go to the bank to try get my card back/get a new card, sticking around was a pain but saved me a lot of hassle. I've had other friends have the same experience and get their card back by just waiting long enough.

That sounds a little :sus:

All machines in the UK and the vast majority in Europe will operate a 'card before cash' transaction flow, you would have to remove your card in order for you to get your cash.

I'd be very cautious if my card didnt come back out, there is a well known fraud that could be involved, check the lip of the card reader for anything that shouldn't be there and be aware of anyone who may have seen you enter your PIN. I would have stood in front of the machine and called my bank to cancel the card there and then.

The above could just have been a case of a jammed card and the machine persistently trying to reject it and finally succeeding, If your bank sends a message to the machine to retain the card or the machine is simply unable to return it due to a mechanical problem it will get dumped into a bin inside the machine, in this case it would be very unlikely to be returned to you in anyway, it should get destroyed.

As above contact your bank ASAP and let them know, if they have pulled your card you need top know why and if not you need to cancel it in case of skulduggery:sus:
 
^ Yeah one of those frauds is the reason I stuck around for so long in my case, because right about when my card got stuck someone started hanging about in another part of the indoor area where all the machines were and I was worried it was an elaborate set up to wait until I left then have the card pop out after a certain time, since they could have easily seen me type my pin in before it got stuck (as it was right after I hit my pin that it did).

To be fair it's still a possibility though I think the machine was just switching off to reset for the day or something as I've noticed around that time of day (like 9:30pm) I tend to have issues with those cash machines every time.
 
Cash machines don't tend to 'switch off for the day' in general they are left on all the time for various reasons even if they are inside and not accessible 24hrs, it's possible the machine rebooted due to it crashing most of them are running XP ;)

The Lebanese loop has become a bit of a cover all term for any device that traps the card as its being returned to the customer. These days there is a seemingly never ending and diverse flow of new frauds, some using nothing more than odds and ends from the local DIY store some so sophisticated you can do little but admire them. :sus:

Contact your bank - if the country has an ATM they have the ability to transfer funds to them. You can then simply walk into x bank - show your ID (passport normally - some ask for cashcard) and get your money. If you contact the bank where your card was stolen ASAP - they 'may' be able to retrieve it for you the following morning.

IF your really fucked up - have money but can't get it because your 'card was stolen' contact your embassy !
