The Ferguson thread / additional race discussion

Ok, I just read your incredibly biased article written by someone on the other side of the globe... So what?

I did find this funny...

The insistence that simply believing in racial equality is enough, that racism today amounts to nothing more than saying bad words that hurt people's feelings, all while denying the discrimination against minorities, leads many to now view racism against whites as being as big a problem than that against blacks.

And this...

Already tense race relations are not helped by things such as SketchFactor, an app developed by white New Yorkers to help people avoid "bad" parts of town. "Sketchy" of course, has long being used to describe black neighbourhoods.

lol are you serious? An Australian writing an article about what's going on in ferguson. Man I bet she knows so much about what's going on in the US, definitely a reputable article if you ask me.

Where's your analysis? You're an American, afterall. This gives you academic and journalistic credibility. Rip apart the Aussie's article with the truth.

So the crux of your arguments, as I can make out, is that non-Americans have nothing to offer in regards to commenting on America?

I suppose you didn't think much of Christopher Hitchens? (Assuming either of you ever heard of him)

And you must both avoid Fox News like the plague - being owned, run and editorially overseen by Rupert Murdoch (an Australian).

It's telling that you find the article "funny", nutskin.
I can tell it is very challenging for both of you to hear dissenting opinions - especially those from people outside the United States.
Otherwise you'd probably have something witty or informative to contribute to the conversation.
Well, I shouldn't say you're contributing nothing - you "freedom lovers" are keeping this thread churning along your pigger-lovin' wit.

Ferguson, Missouri isn't my backyard. But if I did want some reputable information, I'd probably seek out articles written by people who actually live in Ferguson, MO.

Just seems like the logical thing to do

You realize it isn't the 18th century now, right? An Australian can be on the ground in Missouri in 24 hours.

So their information is just as good as someone who has lived in Ferguson their whole life?

Just wondering if that's the point you're trying to make? If so, I'd have to disagree.

You should really go back to the lounge imvhoiirctbph

Or offer something more substantial than discrediting a journalist based on where they live.

You're bumping the thread, so I wouldn't be so hard on yourself.
Your existence has some meaning - even if it's just that you're belligerent and incapable of posting anything of substance.

You honestly want specific names? There are journalists that live in every city that have lived there, their entire life

And they're the only ones capable of reporting current events?

If you're looking for straight up commentary, then sure, having a regional native can be very insightful. However, a good journalist can and should be able to investigate any story anywhere in the world.

Hey at least bardo responds. At least we can agree a "regional native can be very insightful". And I agree great journalists come from every country in the world and they have the right to cover any story they please.. But I'm still going to say, for a story such as this, I'd much rather get information from someone who has lived in Ferguson their entire life than an Australian who just got off of a plane 24 hours ago.

Hey look at that. We're agreeing to disagree! This is fun!! :)

You know I respect you bardo
