Afternoon all,

6 years! Christ... that's a lot of travelling! You been to Iceland? It's ranking quite high on my list of likely holidays...

Not yet, but its on the list. Strangely we were thinking about where to go next and we talked about Iceland as we both sort of fancy it. We've just come back from Helsinki, Stockholm so fancied a change so opted for the Far East. Knowing us though our plans will change a dozen times until we actually get something booked.

I want to get back to Oman when it cools down as we fancy hiking through Bani Habib (deserted Village in the mountains), will be travelling again before the new year so not sure where next.

Well then ... I sort of managed to punch the BF again last night. I just asked him about it and apparently we need to talk about it later :/ ! I hope I didn't hurt him that much.

Far East sounds like a good plan... nice to ring the changes. :)

I'd really like to go to Tokyo & Okinawa at some point in my life.

I've been to Thailand a few times and enjoy it but was in Phuket two years ago and it sort of put me off the place (stupid I know as everywhere is different). We were supposed to be going to Singapore in February but thats looking unlikely so thought we would try Korea. I have mixed feelings about Tokyo, I think it would be a great experience but a bit manic.

Tokyo's fine and all but it felt like there wasn't much to do there other than to consume. If I could only go to one place in J-land it would definitely be Kyoto.

Oooh, this isn't helping my itchy travel feet. Haven't been anywhere exotic this year and it's killing me.

I definitely recommend Iceland.. went for a week at Christmas one year and it was lovely. A bit nippy but basking in the Blue Lagoon thermal pool in the snow was pretty special.

Wasn't that what happened the last time, more or less?

You'd have thought he'd learned his lesson by now. :)

Yeah was the same as the last time - not sure why he does it? Last time his face was pretty badly bruised, last night I sort of hit him in the face with my forearm then followed up with a couple of punches to the head :/. I wish he wouldn't do it though, yeah its funny afterwards but still :D

I swear you told me you loved Phuket after I'd told you I thought it was shit.

Anyway, come to Laos, but don't hit me. You haven't made it there yet, and I'll be there for two months Jan-March. Before that you've got the choice of Malaysia, Java, Bali, Sri Lanka or the Philippines, Sep-Dec. I told you I was going and I'm a man of my word.

I should really research a bit more on places to visit in Japan... all I know is I want to go there, Tokyo just seems like an obvious choice but I can understand what you mean.

This year? I haven't been abroad since 2011! 8(

Thermal pool with snow around... sounds amazing. Closest I've got is rain in a heated swimming pool in the Lake District. ;)

2011? Ouch. Am a bit of a travel fiend so that would kill me.. and to be fair I did spend 2 months of this year on a boat, so I can't complain too much. Though I had planned on doing 3 weeks in California this September but boyfriend issues kinda scuppered that. :(

Then ditch him. Sorry, that's a bit extreme but I'm sure you're used to me by now.

Is it too much to want another trip when you're about to set off for six months? I hate the USA and much of what it stands for. But oh, that scenery. I fancy a drive (I love driving) across most of it. 3000 miles in a straight line through mountains? Gimme the drugs and some cheap petrol and I'm there.

California road trip was the best holiday of my life. Would do it again in a minute if I could get myself together.

Aye, that may well be on the cards anyway.. you're not the first person to have said this. I'm just far too good at putting up with crap. ;)

And no, certainly not too much.. the scenery is pretty much the only reason I want to visit the US.

Just try not to do the Pacific Highway on the foggiest day in years. It's supposed to be the most beautiful part.... couldn't see my hand in front of my face :(
