how can anyone commit suicide when they have so much money. If i was that rich i'd call ten beautiful escorts and order 30 grams of coke everytime i felt depressed. So many ways to get through it when u got that kind of money.

The article I read said he had money troubles from 2 divorces.

And as Ellen said -

Ellen DeGenres ‏@TheElIIenShow 1h

This just goes to show that money and fame don't always equal happiness. True happiness comes from the people you love, never forget that.

STRUGGLES WITH ADDICTION

Williams, who fought a long battle with depression and has been open about his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction in the past, checked into rehab to “finetune” his sobriety in early July this year.
His publicist Mara Buxbaum said the actor was “taking the opportunity to finetune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud.”
Williams told People magazine in 1988 that he became reliant on alcohol and cocaine during his rise to fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He first sought treatment in rehab in 2006 after admitting he had become an alcoholic after two decades of sobriety.

His publicist released the following statement: “After 20 years of sobriety, Robin Williams found himself drinking again and has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family.”
Williams had described cocaine as “a place to hide” in the past.
“Most people get hyper on coke. It slowed me down. Sometimes it made me paranoid and impotent, but mostly it just made me withdrawn. And I was so crazy back then — working all day, partying most of the night — I needed an excuse not to talk. I needed quiet times and I used coke to get them.”

FINANCIAL TROUBLE

In September last year, Williams admitted he was forced to return to TV acting after three decades and sell his $35 million house because his two costly divorces left him on the verge of bankruptcy.
“The idea of having a steady job is appealing,” Williams told Parade magazine of his role in new TV show, The Crazy Ones.
“There are bills to pay. My life has downsized, in a good way. I’m selling the ranch up in Napa. I just can’t afford it anymore.
“Divorce is expensive. I used to joke they were going to call it ‘all the money’, but they changed it to ‘alimony’. It’s ripping your heart out through your wallet,” Williams said.
Williams had not been seen on a TV program since the 1980s series Mork & Mindy.

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for."

I just heard this the day before. It represents my biggest aspirations. Maybe a man named Tom Shulman wrote it, but Robin Williams delivered it.

Overcoming darkness was a common role Williams played and something, obviously, he lived. This pain was always a part he revealed and overcame with imagination and joy. He fought for himself and made us into his allies.

God this sucks. Always liked his brand of emotional comedy. Patch Adams was one of my favorites growing up. This is why Kanye was screaming "we want prenup".

Really sad to see this guy go, he was an amazing talent and truly one of the most hilarious people around. It is tragic that with all that he had going for him he still felt he had to resort to suicicde...

Why rich people get married is beyond me. Some beached whale always ends up getting enormous sums of money she would never have the capacity to earn and certainly does not deserve.

I was surprised as fuck when he died. Actors who seem so in control in their work seem to be the ones who are secretly the most fucked up.

Oh no...

He was easily one of my favorite actors and comedians.

Every film he was in - of which I've seen - was a memorable experience.

Of what I've watched starring Robin Williams, my favorite is definitely Bicintennial Man.

Other films with him which I really enjoyed were Aladdin, Jumanji, Good Will Hunting, Peter Pan, Night at the Museum, Insomnia, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Along with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin McLaurin Williams' abrupt passing is very sad and very tragic to me.

Yes it's true that we all must die of something. And yes (I feel) it's true that celebrities tend to get a lot of media coverage when they pass away (especially unexpectedly, or when compared to the average Joe or Jane), but I digress.

Another amazing actor and comedian who touched the hearts of countless people around the world is gone - very sad indeed.

Word has it that he was suffering from severe depression AFAIK.

Whatever the case may be, may he rest in peace.

And if there is life after death, I hope he's in a better place, and I hope he has found the happiness which was reportedly missing from his last days alive.

I'll miss you Rob :(

He died with a belt around his neck... Sounds to me like that David Carradine death... He was probably into that auto erotic asphyxiation bullshit that all those weirdo hollywooders are into...

it's not in most men's interest to marry. i'd say unless the women has more money than you don't marry her. statistically you have a 50 percent chance of divorcing, which means 50 percent chance of giving up half the shit you have and half the shit you get for the rest of your life. even if she cheats with 100 men. and pre-nups don't hold up in court.

personally i won't get married unless the women has money and i'm not working, in which case theoretically i would get half her shit, but with the way the laws are stacked against men i would most likely break even (no money exchanged) which wouldn't be a huge deal.

Can't you take the money part out of the equation by signing pre-nups?

You can try. But since law is based of interpretation and subject to other laws it has independent variables an is somewhat subjective in nature, so nothing is ever ironclad.
Prenuptial agreement not an effective waiver of spousal rights
Does the Air-Tight Pre-Nup Actually Exist?

But given the amount of money I have seen talked about, I doubt money was the cause of this. I went to check the article again as I remember it saying something about having to sell an estate of thirty million dollars of something, but they seem to have taken it down.. but anyway having to sell a 2nd home or even a first because of money owed to a greedy X, still does not equate money troubles. People are required to sell houses all the time when a divorce goes down, they either have to buy the other person out or sell and give half in many states.

RIP.......Robin Williams.

1) Good Will Hunting

2) Good Morning Vietnam

3) Dead Poets Society

The 3 movies I really liked that he was in........

Suicide is a selfish act, Todd Bridges may have had bad timing, but absolutely, no matter who does it or for what reason.

From my own problems I know when you can't trust people enough to let them get close to you.

You blame others... but when looking far enough back in the past, detached, I see myself as the one always avoiding.

Adrien Cronauer said the only ones who knew Robin Williams were his kids, and that it was because he had nothing to fear from them. For everyone else meeting him he had a performance. Adrian looked at Williams as a shy man who was shielding himself.

This made me sad. He's one of the main comedians from my childhood, and one of the funniest. I've never seen mork and mindy, but I'm going to download it. I hear it's great!

RIP Robin Williams, I'll miss you very much, you had so much talent.

Everyone who hasn't seen it, go watch What Dreams May Come.
