Is it Okay to tell the Doctor that I smoke Meth even though I have a kid? I don't smoke in front of her! I need to know if it's fine cause I haven't been feeling very well lately and I need to see a Doctor I'm under weight and get treated for whatever I have soon. So if anyone knows what I should do please tell me I don't want my child being taken away from me cuz I'm a user.

If you have a child, the last thing you want to do is tell anyone that you use illegal drugs.......

Its great that you don't use in front of your child but in the real world, where people get sh*t on for being honest, not a good idea to mention it.

i've heard of people getting their kids taken away for weed, when the had medical cards in a legal state.....so yea, i wouldn't tell the dr you do meth. maybe tell him you take adderall/amphetamine (prescribed) from another doctor?

or maybe just don't tell the DR you have a kid? and then be honest about the meth.

This is a legal issue although of course if your doctor calls CPS saying your drug use puts your child in danger they would take them away. Use your best judgment....

My recommendation is stop using for the sake of your kid or at least eat it rather then smoking it. Even if you don't it around her it will destroy your teeth and infuse itself into whatever area you're smoking it.

Also look into suppliments to recover from the damage meth causes. I'm sure you can figure that out and if anyone has recommendations please add them for him as I know none.

Edit: Also the above info to BS your doctor can cause huge problems. I'm sure it's easy for a doctor to find out of you have kids.

/So then I shouldn't tell the Doctor at all? My bf said that the doctors have this thing called confidentiality and if I tell my doc about my use he/she can't say anything unless its harming others. My kid doesn't live with meat the moment I'm trying to stop using but I can't on y own.so I'm guessing it's better not to mention anything about Meth?

The problem is the doctor may decide that your use of meth is harming the child whether it's true or not.

If the child is not in your custody it is up to the person who's custody she is in I believe. I don't think they can take your child from someone else's company unless they deem the person who is watching your child unfit to keep the child safe even from you.... IF they deem it a concern requiring action.

I honestly believe if your not trying to stop your use you should not tell your doctor unless you trust them to respect your decision. If you are working to stop I am sure you will recieve help, but it usually is in the attitude of cold turkey and other sometimes worse medications to manage your issues.... Honestly either way your doctor will want you to eventually work towards not using meth, which I also believe is an important goal you should have in mind.

I can't believe for a second you're comfortable living with the real fear of losing someone you love because of your actions.I truly believe the best choice is to make it a goal to stop using not only for yourself, but also for your child so you both can be happy together as I'm sure is any parents dream. I also think using this thread probably moved to the right area as a place to post any doctors recommendations especially on medications to see what other people think who may have also had experience with it...

What unfortunately can't be done is asking legal matters and custody issues as my areas laws may differ greatly from yours.... I would think my breakdowns are rational although not all laws are rational throughout the various broken systems.

Honestly while I don't think you should post location try to make an call to a law office with a private/blocked number using a fake name to describe the situation and get advice if you are uncomfortable revealing details. Also a clearer idea on who is in custody of the child? Ex gf/parents? If they are clean or in stable situation? Anything not revealing. I'm not a lawyer or really all that versed or experience in life and everything so take my advice with a bit of salt.

I honestly think you should consult with your mom first if you feel you can trust her. I know she wants what is best for her daughter or granddaughter. I honestly believe she would want you to stop using to. Since she has custody she might be allowed to prevent you from seeing her until you recover or enter some program.

Honesty please for your child get help to quit. I do also concern about you losing weight and everything too.... There should be no reason to fear asking for help to quit.

Asking your doctor you could hide it from your mom if you are not comfortable telling her, but at some point in recovery or after words revealing your struggle and vulnerability to are working to strengthen to overcome will be a important step to move forward. If you are afraid to go to the doctor alone tell your mom and she can come with and can be reinforcing support, extra proof you want to get better, and also proof that your child will be in safe custody until you are able to take care of your child as they deserve like any person including you.

Please keep us update here. I'm sure if you make the hard choice to make a change and stop your use not only will you find supportive people here, but also a lot of people who can give great advice with that struggle. I wish you and your family the best in your journeys and hope your paths wind together forever.

Just my opinion...

I have been using on and off (mostly on) for about 28 years and the worst thing I did was to come clean and be honest to those around me that I use methamphetamine. Due to the media and other agencies demonizing meth if you use it you are considered a terrible person unfit to raise a child or anything else. Be careful!!! Do not trust anyone with the information that you use. Especially your family. If they do not use they will probably not understand.

i wouldnt, in my experience telling a doctor you use any substance recreationally usually results in never getting any kind of substance that

There is confidentiality between the doctor & you but if the doctor/psychiatrist suspects you are possibly putting your child in harms way, whether you know you're not, the doctor can lie or whatever & screw you.

I wouldn't mention you do any drugs to any doctor.

Have you ever paid attention to all the ridiculous questions on the questionnaires & even the questions they ask you in the doctors office now a days? Crazy......these questions weren't asked 10 years ago. They are trying to get into your famies business , etc......& its only gonna get worse in the future.

Yep.......what about the hypocrites.

There's people that take vicodin for pain & if you tell them you take morphine, some of them think you're a junky or out of control while they're taking vicodin & benzos for anxiety, lol.......

Thing is, to not say anything yo anyone about street drugs, illegal drugs. Prescription drugs is fine cause its a script from a legit doctor.
