Oh great another Owen thread, with hundreds of youtube embeds...

Will get off the kids TV theme once it's out my system. I had a rather large collection of these old cartoon theme albums as a nipper - I really could go on all night. But won't. Can't resist...

Shambles wins the thread hands down. Can you all stop embedding now.

hey, did you ever see the pop song made from the theme which I think hit number 1??

This is amazing, I loved this song as a kid and it's just as great now:

Yes, yes and yes again. I do prefer the vocal version though and is still technically the theme - Julee Cruse - Falling. Helps that it's one of the best TV series ever made too.

I fukkin loathed the series but the mid 80s were very much my synths period (the other type of synths came a few years later). It is kinda cheesy but that doesn't really matter - it's a still a bit of a classic - Jan Hammer - Crockett's Theme.

And as I'm not embedding I'll chuck in a couple more cos I can.

John Murphy - 28 Days Later. Will pretend that abortion of a sequel never happened. The opening sequence of the original with that there theme over thataway is almost good enough all by itself to forgive the sequel... almost. It's a brilliant theme though. You knew the film was gonna be a winner cos who'd compose that and fit it so nicely to set near-perfect tone if it wasn't?

And in really rather different but equally perfect for the film news - Ennio Morricone - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. Minor trivia: I got to that by never noticing that he also did the soundtrack to The Thing. I was sure that was one of John Carpenter's own themes cos he does most of his own and is rather similar to his style... but having reminded myself of a couple of Carpenter's they are perhaps a little too much of their time without having the film to go with it.

Another complete change of style and another near-perfect soundtrack. Psycho's screeching strings may be what most remember him for but this is by far his best work (my opinion and all that) - Bernard Herrman - Taxi Driver Theme

Bit of a cheat being a cover (and not actually the theme as such) but pleasingly circular and also really bloody good so - The Pixies - In Heaven (original version here)

I'll pretend to have embedded that for you, sham...(classic)

Dexter's theme music is quite awesomely lush too. That cello really does it for me through the loud bass box. (not heard this full version before, gets a bit techno-ey in a very surprisingly good way 8o. Its not surprising that its had 2,358,939 hits, my only regret is that its taken me this long to discover this full version.)

24 Blood Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2xxizpHuoo

The Walking Dead too. So fucking Gothic.

Both sound fantastic very loud in 5.1 surround sound.
