ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -
A St. Paul mother told Fox 9 News that although it's hard to explain how she feels, she knows she is very angry at police after a SWAT team executed a no-knock warrant on her home Wednesday and killed her dogs.

"I was laying right here, and I really thought I was being murdered," Larry Lee Arman admitted. "I don't want to say by who. I thought it was like, the government."

Arman got right down onto his living room floor to show what he says unfolded early Wednesday morning in his St. Paul home. Tune in to Fox 9 News @ 10 to see homeowners give a tour the scene.

"The first thing I heard was 'boom,'" he recalled. "Bop, bop, bop, bop, bop. Right in front of us."

It was 7 a.m. when police executed what is known as a no-knock search warrant. Arman said he and his two children were sleeping on a mattress when armed members of the SWAT team barged through the front door. The next thing he remembers is seeing the family's long-time dogs stagger and fall.

The blood of the two pit bulls -- named Mello and Laylo -- is still staining the carpet, and Arman's sneakers.

"One was running for her life, and they murdered her right here," he said.

Arman's girlfriend, Camille Perry, was in the bathroom at the time. She raced to cover the couple's young children, who she contends were right in the line of fire while sleeping at ground level.

"The only thing I was thinking was my kids were going to get hit by bullets," she said.

A St. Paul police spokesman told Fox 9 News that the dogs charged at officers, and that they feared for their safety. The spokesman also explained that law enforcement has the right to eliminate potential threats with lethal force, and he pointed out that a judge signed off on the search for weapons and drugs and that investigators believed they were entering a dangerous situation. Arman says that couldn't be further from the case.

"Yeah, I smoke marijuana," he said. "I do."

Arman admits he is a recreational smoker, but he is not the only one questioning the police tactics on East Maryland Avenue. Neighbors aren't pleased either.

"All of a sudden, we see the dogs thrown out like pieces of meat, like they were nothing," Shawn Miller said. "We teared up because they are like family to us. Those dogs are real good dogs."

The only items seized during Wednesday's raid included clothing, a glass bong and suspected marijuana remnants in a metal grinder.

I would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to my dog. I can't imagine how I would feel if something fucked up like this happened. That's awful.

Are there any statistics on how many raids are done where they done find what they're looking for or don't find anything? I know of 3 people who have gotten their houses raided when they didn't have anything. Well, in one house a pipe for weed was found and in another the guy had half an OP 80 and a subutex strip.

Cruelty to animals is a felony and caries with it a mandatory five year sentence in some states Are there laws the preclude the police from these laws or are they just running rampant and lawless these days.

A SWAT team entry with assault rifles probably being fired to murdered the dogs. live bullets fired indoors where children and citizens were present. To get a bong and a grinder with some residue. What the fuck is that insanity.. wonder how many paid man hours went into that clown show and its shattering world changing results. I was about to laugh, but its realy not funny in anyway.

A person with a bong does not worry me at all as I don't have anything to worry about really.. some cowboys from the swat squad discharging rounds and family pets is very worrisome. What the hell is going on here. Its clearly madness.

Shouldn't we the people have the same right to eliminate potential threats with lethal force as well? Ya know, like masked, armed goons breaking into your home at 7 am?

I've said it before, I'll say it again: The only good cop is a dead cop.

If any Bluelighters live in Minnesota, the very least you can do is write to your governor and/or congressional representative about the harm and danger this bullshit causes to families and communities. FYI, My dad writes to our reps about petty shit all the time and still gets response. Time to put our elected officials on blast.

No knock search warrants are so fuck'd, don't I have a legal right to kill pigs that bust into my house without even identifying themselves?

The SWAT team feared for their safety from the dogs? Even with assault rifles, body armor, and a whole team of officers?

So despite how ruthless they were, their official story is they were pussies, so they killed the dogs. I would think that firing a round would have scared the dogs off. Probably would have caused them some hearing loss, maybe permanent. Wouldn't think they'd have to shoot them.

They don't have tazers?

^ Yeah it's pathetic and horrible, of course there are other ways to handle it. I would be devastated as well if they did this to my two dogs. And it sounds like it was all very close to the kids. Really disgusting, they should be held accountable and not allowed to do such stuff. So many of these types of articles.

They shouldn't be allowed to get away with such rampant abuse of power, disrespect of other people's property, disregard for the lives of pets, generalizations on their reports (e.g. "narcotics"), and so forth.

Not nearly enough oversight. A leash far too long.

When the chief of the DEA is allowed to publicly condemn (and even mock) the opinion of her superiors for their views on marijuana, and when she can also publicly state that they will basically do the opposite (get tougher on pothead "crime") than expected from her superiors, how does it rub off on other cops working narcotics? Because I'd think it sets a pretty bad example (or good, depending on which way you look at it) at how tolerant the government is of incidents which shouldn't be tolerated, but rather considered felonious crimes.

I feel sorry for BLers living in America, as it sounds like your constitutional rights are being trampled on like never before. And if there's enough outrage, and enough ordinary citizens have had it, is another civil war not far off?

No. Majority of people won't hear about this or other incidents. I only heard of it because I saw it on BL. Also, I'm pretty sure no group would ever try and take on the US armed forces either. It's pretty common knowledge that they have a lot of technology that trumps the average person and they put more money into defense than any other facet of society. So, fucking with them is pretty much going to lead to severe jail sentence or death.

There are a lot of people who have the opinion that if you do drugs then you deserve any of the bad things that may happen to you. Don't want to get your house raided, don't do drugs! Even though the whole point of this is that there weren't any drugs in the house, save a bong and shake, and that it may happen to people that aren't even involved in drugs.

People don't care until it happens to them or someone close to them. Basically they don't care unless it effects them in some way.

The view on marijuana has definitely softened, but there are still a lot of people that have a negative view of it and consider it no different than any other drug. I used to think that way, growing up as a good student who went through the DARE program. I never got a question wrong in DARE. Drug Abuse Resistance Education! There are a lot of young people who make ignorant comments about drugs largely because they've yet to grow up and experience them and because they've had DARE or some other bullshit "education" about drugs. The "education" is largely scare tactics aiming to try and prevent using any drug. It sort of backfires since most people try marijuana and realize it's not like DARE made it out to be, so then naturally one wonders what other drugs DARE was not informing them about. I'm way off topic now....

There would be some seriously armed ppl...

Seems like whenever its a pit bull they shoot to kill, well i ran that is the only reason to shoot something... But no nock warrents should be made illegal. They have some far more harm than anything. There was the grandmother inngeorfia who thought her house was being broken into and she had a legally purchased gun and was shot dead.
