Okay, title may have misled you; I simply didn't know where to put this.
My dope guy ran out, so I ended up getting a 30mg opana ER.

Took the coating off the pill, cut into little slivers, crisped, burned- added water while still hot; mixed and let solution cool somewhat.
I did my shot, felt fine.
My girl did her shot, felt fine- roughly 30 minutes later she presents with intense dysphoria without shaking/shivering or chills.
About an hour has passed and she is still intensely dysphoric.
I'm not sure if this is a medical emergency or something that will simply pass.
Any ways I can help her feel better?

I have done this style with these pills-- burning them-- and the dose you get per shot varies ALOT. Did yall share one pill? Cause if you did she may be in an anxious withdrawal cause she didnt ever really get better.

Sounds like cotton fever, but there's no way to be sure so yeah, ^^^ Hospital..

If rigors (unstoppable shivering) and fever are still present after an hour or so then the hospital is where you wanna be.

A foreign particle introduced to your bloodstream will often present itself in this manner. That being said nobody here can know for sure which is why majority here will say hospital and thread will more than likely be closed.

He said "no shaking or chills", just dysphoria...
I'm not really sure what the problem is? Dysphoria is both a side effect of opioids(oxymorphone is especially know for this) yet can also be a WD symptom.

Either way, hardly an emergency.

And, the only way to extract oxymorphone from those damn Opana ER's is to use nearly pure alcohol. IME, the whole "crisper" method is bullshit. So more than likely, she is just ticked cause you shot her up with water!!!! ;)

Oh duh. I read that wrong. I thought OP said WITH shaking/chills. So yeah, I'm guessing Lorne is right.

I've made it through cotton fever without the hospital like eight different times.

Yeah so have I. It always goes the same way, start shaking, get really cold/fever, get nauseous and thirsty, throw up, feel better. The whole thing for me usually lasts about 12-14 hours.

Misread that part about the shaking, but I still stand by what I said about how the body reacts to foreign particulate matter introduced via IV injection.

People often say "cotton fever" is caused by a bacteria present on the cotton, but I'm more inclined to think that the majority of the time it's the body reacting to a situation like I discribe above where it could actually be a small piece of the cotton filter itself.

I've had the unfortunate luck of experiencing this reaction twice while I was hospitalized within a matter of a a week due to what I believe was cause by my body trying to fight off a very serious infection and not having the ability to properly defend against the foreign matter how it normally would.

Couldn't it be that the oxymorphone had too high binding affinity? would cause precipitated w/d like bupe does.

How big id your/girls dope habit. How long inbetween opana and h?

I've not personally tried oxymorphone but I do know it only takes a few mg's with that stuff when pure enough from prep method.

I hate dysphoria so bad when I'm in bupe PW's. I'm so sry. Keep us informed and best of luck.

Remember though, that in many cases, cotton fever has nothing to do with cotton. The term "cotton fever" is a misnomer, that was coined on the basis that people often got the syndrome after cotton rinses.

In reality, it is simply an autoimmune response, that is triggered by a large influx of bacteria into the bloodstream.
Although foreign matter can induce an immune response, in general, the particulate matter that is small enough to be inadvertently injected is easily dealt with by the body, remember that you have your kidneys, and even your lungs to filter any particulate matter that is introduced into the blood stream.

Otherwise, we would get sick every time we injected pills without a micron filter!!!

Hope op's ok. Would / could oxymorphone precipitate w/d with its high affinity? Or at least dysphoria?

Lorne is 100% on that too btw. Cotton fever is a poorly named infection caused by non sterile IV use. I remember years back getting worried I was gonna get cotton fever just cuz a little cotton had got stuck in the tip that I had to pull out out and all.
