The Dutch were superb.

From the moment they equalised it was game over, wheels totally off and disappearing over the horizon for Spain. Iker crying like a bitch because he was beat to the ball by a player who can't use their hands when he can, just terrible. At fault for the van persie header too, stood in no mans land scratching his arse like a halfwit.

As a dutchman I can tell you that this night felt sooo good.
The dam had somewhat of the same vibe as when we reached the final last time. Hope this is a portent of things to come :)
 
Tbh I still don't give much for our chances. Our defense is still sorely lacking (never understood why van Gaal didn't call up Celtic's Van Dijk), Blind is progressing each year and I think that he's slowly outgrowing the Dutch league but he (Champions league) and Vlaar (Premier league) are the only defenders who have played some games against top notch strikers. They did well yesterday but I'm not sure they can keep this up

Fuck man, that match was the best in years. Van Gaal is a genius.

Van Persie's header was pure blizz, not caring for landing on your head and just having an eye for the ball, that is football. But de Guzman was not in shape IMHO. The defense was very promising. particularly Vlaar (no penalty!) and Janmaat were superb. Holland should have won 6 - 0.

The thing is, right after I dressed with my blue away Dutch jersey, they scored the equal ball. I am not Dutch, but I love the country (as everyone here :D) and the team.
 
England to beat Italy would make it another good day

He got a lot of abuse in Dutch media in the weeks before the WC. His current squad seems to love him though, especially van persie. I've always liked the man, especially his media performances, you brits should be in for a treat when he starts his job at ManU.

Aye. I think England will pip Uruguay to the group on GD. Don't expect Italy to be up to much. I also think they'll beat whoever they face in second round, although Holland, Spain or Chile might prove too much in the quarters.
