Unless you happen to be a mediaeval Knight Templar... but that would seem unlikely so probably on broadly safe ground. I'd avoid any popes in the immediate vicinity just to be on the safe side though - discrimination is not really their strong point. The other type of discrimination is though which is strong evidence to support the case that metaphors should not be overextended before lunch.

I'd say have a good one but Wetherspoon's for breakfast is a very particular form of good one. Do they still not allow jukeboxes in those places? Do they extend the ban on music to singing of Happy Birthday? Report back and have a great day :)
 
Yep shambles still no music or live football just sky news with out any volume, but only early house I know to get a pint a 8am and a cheep breakfast to soak it up.
I'm very easily pleased. ???
 
Fridaaaaay! Off to the pub tonight with two of my closest mates and my gf for some drinks and eph, they're meeting her for the first time so a bit nervous, then on to a club possibly. Postie is sending us some pressies tomorrow so will either recover or carry on, tho probably just recover given my parents are over to work on the house.
 
They sell booze at 8am?!? 8o

I sometimes forget all the licensing laws changed - pretty sure that made no difference at all to pubs locally cos they're very traditional opening hours here. Do believe I've bought booze at the offy of a morn though - just never think to do it. It would get messy.

Last time I went to a Wetherspoon's I had their phaal. Am very partial to curry - and hot ones at that - but that thing was just plain silly. Did result in buying more pints than initially planned though which is presumably why it's barely edible.
 
Welsh opening hours are the most traditional of the lot, aren't they? Especially in the north. I can remember quite a few frustrated attempts to find somewhere (anywhere) to find a drink at anytime on a Sunday, and that's a recent as the very late nineties. Only the most Presbyterian backwaters of Scotland can rival it, and those are the places where they go as far as to close kiddies playgrounds on the (ahem) 'Lord's day'.

But yeah, Manchester has a few pubs which are open that early, and to be honest I've yet to see anybody staggering out of one pissed first thing in the morning. The thing being that most people who are pissed at that time in the morning aren't really in any state to go to pubs anyway, or are dedicated offy customers who don't go out to drink.

Seems like people can be civilised if you give them the chance.

I very rarely go out to pubs these days but did fairly regularly a few years back and only recall one night where we actually found a place that stayed open late (was 4am or 5am - can't quite recall due to drinking till 4am or 5am). That was in local university town though so hardly a surprise. I'm sure there are places that stay open in the bigger towns but there's really not the population to cover oldskool opening hours for the number of pubs there actually are.

Only time I ever think to drink early in the day is if I'm coming at it from the night before. Never been overly big on too much daytime drinking... aside from a brief flirtation with brandy for brekky in my late teens anyway.
