^makes me gag i hate the way it lingers. One time the shipment of liquid hadnt made it to the clinic on time so they were giving takehomes in the form of tablets, dissolving the tablets in the little bottles. It was nasty, like drinking chunky metamucil not properly diluted and the mouth of the bottle is so small it was hard to get in one swig and kept having to pour water in and shake to get all the shit stuck in the bottom. Thinking back I shouldve just poured in a cup and diluted myself but i drank the sludge straight from the bottle.

Hi Ohshea, you may be able to answer another methadone 'rumor' that I believe is true. Do you think there is a difference in time of onset and quality of effect between the liquid Methadose vs. 5 or 10 mg. pills. I,for one, believe there is a difference and that the pills,mg. for mg.,do seem to be stronger than the liquid. I've had both,Methadose mostly, but occasionally I get the pills on the BM and I feel(I think) they are stronger than the liquid. Anyone else's opinion on the subject(and you know who you are) would also be appreciated. IMHO, the old Lilly 40mg. wafers/biscuits/Diskets would blow 40mg M-Dose liquid out of the water.

^And let me add that if you leave a quanity of un-diluted Methadose liquid stand for a week or longer you will find some dark pink/purple 'sludge' at the bottom but quickly dissolves when shaken. This,I believe is either some kind of time release excipient or added as a deterrent to IV injection. Any thoughts people?

I don't know if I notice an overall real difference in the duration or strength between the liquid, 40mg wafers or 10mg pills but the liquid actually feels more potent IME only because it seems to kick in a bit faster and all at once giving me a short lived glow that quickly levels off. The pills seem to kick in slower so I don't notice the mental shift or mood lift as much. I hope that makes sense........

I remember when our clinics used to give us the crushed wafers mixed in a water solution. It was indeed a gross, grainy drink reminiscent of metamucil.

Its funny you mention that, my counselor was talking to me about that a few months back. I asked her difference between two and she told me some think the wafers last longer because "the liquid just runs right through you." She said others prefer liquid because they thinknit hits them faster. Honestly the only reason im on liquid is because i prefer to go up in increments of fours, and with tablets you can only go up in increments of five mg where liquid is mg increases. My reasoning is because you can go up 5 times and its only 20mg, where w the wafers after four increases youre already at 20. So its like i get one freebie increase and 4 and 5 mg practically feel the same.

I dont really notice a difference but i have heard people say so. Usually people are pretty dedicated to their method (tabs or liq). Personally, i m on liquid just because of the single mg increases, altho i havent increased in almost a year. And i just prefer how smooth liquid goes down.

Somni- yeanit always reminds me of metamucil w not enough water. Chunky n shit

I'm surprised any clinics still use pills nevermind letting you choose. And I'm pretty sure they stopped making the wafers a year or 2 ago at DEA's request. Now it's pills for pain and juice for junkies(sounds like a good name for a song)

That cant be true considering my clinic dispenses either one at the patients request, and they are pretty tight about following rules and regs. I started off on discs and switched to juice, as late as last year. I know they still dispense both because my counselor is always asking me whcih im on and i have to remind her, that and seeing the nurse break up discs too. I could switch to discs tomorrow if I wanted. Not that Id want to, shits nasty.

^We are talking about the light orange, scored 40mg. Lilly wafers, right. Well if you've seen em lately I must be wrong but I'm gonna ask on the methadone thread how common they are and how many get a choice cause here in the NE it's pretty much juice only.If they had em here I'd still be on the clinic. For some reason the juice never gave me that 2-4hr nice that the wafers always gave me.I'm jealous and 'nasty' is relative. Hey Scags, they still got the wafers in The City ?

Yep yep those are the ones scored into quarters. Maybe different state regulations? I know each state has their own rules and regs that clinics must rollow. Or maybe the jizz is just cheaper?

I have friends on mmt and one told me he wanted wafers but, they don't carry them because it's easier to change dosage more precisely with the liquid.

It has been probably 7yrs since I was on the clinic but we used to have a choice between white wafers or cherry liquid. The wafers were a dollar extra per day and you could only change your dose 10mgs at a time. They weren't orange, although I have had the citrus wafers. Most people chose the liquid when they were increasing or decreasing their dose because you could change your dose by single digit increments but if they were stable they preferred the wafers. I believe it is still the same in Orlando depending on the clinic.

Years ago they used to give out the wafers for pain but the FDA/DEA decided that pain patients didn't need methadone in 40mg increments. So many people overdosed on the wafers thinking that they could handle one pill, not knowing that a dose that large would put down someone without a tolerance. Now only the clinics can dispense the wafers and they have to be made into a liquid based mush to prevent diversion. I chose the cherry liquid because I couldn't tell much difference between the two and the wafer slush was disgusting to have to drink every day especially with a high dose. Imagine five wafers bashed into sludge and mixed with water in a little dosing cup....... Beyond gross. Just thinking about it makes me gag...

I'm guessin that's why most clinics use it.More accurate(+/- 1mg.) and maybe harder for the nurses to divert as opposed to shoving a few wafers in a pocket.

Somni thats funny they charged tou guys more for wafers because at my clinic the wafers are five dollars cheaper a month. I was on em for a while because my cheapass thought that adds up to 60$ a year. But like i said i dont like 5mg increases i prefer 4mg and you can only do that with liquid. Yea wafers are nasty shit so chunky and bleh.

Porky why do you think nurses are sociopaths? Some are sweet. My dispensing nurse is this sweet old black lady who wears awful wigs. Its awkward because i never know what to say to her when shes prepping my takehomes . I think she gets the same vibe so she started asking me to screw the tops on the bottles myself. Keeps meoccupied and i donit really slowly to pretend im busy to avoid casual chitchat. Hate the chitchat.
