Dear BL,
Apologies if this is not the correct place for this thread or if this isn't worthy of one at all haha.
I'm going to be in Europe for 5 weeks starting tomorrow (Paris-->Brussels-->Berlin) so I wanted to say goodbye and also thank you. I initially joined BL a few years ago when I had moved to a new city and honestly was hoping someone would help me find drugs. I got schooled pretty fast. Ha.
For the past few weeks I've been trying to get off heroin (somewhat successfully) and BL has been a great help. I've gained ten pounds and started getting my period again for the first time in over a year, not pleased about either, but that's good news right? Being a junkie can be really isolating.. few people in my life know about my addiction issues and most of them would be shocked/disgusted if I told them. Seeing people talk openly about their opiate addictions on here has made me realize I am not alone and that addiction is not something to be ashamed of. This site has also helped me navigate various issues related to IV drug use (before even becoming a member) and I am now a strong believer in harm reduction. I'd love to one day volunteer at a needle exchange or something similar (maybe not a needle exchange because that would be too triggering) and help others. BL is also just great for when I've felt too lethargic or dopesick to move.
In short BL has helped me feel more human.
I probably won't have time to post on here while I'm abroad but I look forward to returning once I'm stateside again and really getting to know some of y'all better. I don't post a ton but I do read a lot on here and I feel like I know some of you already! I figured I'd also let y'all know so you don't think I died or something.
Be safe out there!
