Okay, I am. 31 yo married man. My wife and I have went from doing 10 roxy 30's daily to 12 ( at least )mg or suboxin daily.
We lost nearly everything on pills, we quite honestly shot a fourty acre farm and modern four br house up our arms. We awoke, sober sick living in a motel, and decide thats it, we are done. We stayed sick for four days, then started a boxin program. At first we could each do a 2mg shot, and be well, and have a buzz. But, now that we each ate slaming one and a half strips a day, we are in trouble. Its time for us to quit, but how do we do that, safely. HELP! Sorry for the long rambling post.

Welcome to BL

I have been through opiate withdrawl Many times I know it ain't easy. Do you have enough to taper the suboxone? If so do 12mg your usual dose one day then do 10the next then stay at 10 for two days then go down to 8 mg then the 2nd day again go down to 6mg then 4 then 2 then 1mg then 0.75mgs then 0.5, 0.25 once reaching 0.25 you will start to skip days take the next day off from sub after 0.25 And resume the 2nd day at the same dose and repeat the 0.25 then skip the next day again and finally 0.125 at this point after dosing this amount skip one day take 0.125 once more then jumping right off will be relatively easy and symptom free. I've done it many tines so message me with any questions you may have I don't mind helping a fellow addict. The hardest part is staying clean when you've detoxed.

Hi trainspotter, I have been on Suboxone for 6 years at no less than 16mg a day. I am ready to stop taking it. I am 40 years old and done with drug use. I was on pills for 12 years before beginning Suboxone. However I am so scared of withdrawal!!!! Not that I doubt your tapering method but it seems really fast. Is this recommended for someone that has been taking as long as me. Any suggestions or advice would be grately appreciated......

Hiya Bluegrassdts,

I am sorry that you've lost everything but well done on getting on suboxone. You may (ah scrap that you beat me to it hehe, was just about to give you the suboxone thread, check to see it was the current thread and noticed you've found it :) )

I'll give you the link New Members Introductions (NMI) Social Thread where you'll have a chance to meet fellow Bluelight members, both new and current, if you wish.

I'm sorry that you are having issues with suboxone. You are at the right thread there, those people know there stuff and have advised lots of people. Excuse my ignorance but can I ask what you mean by "slamming?" The reason that I'm asking is because in the sub-forum, Other Drugs they have a list of all their IV Megathread and FAQ .

If I have that wrong, please ignore that link although the suboxone thread and the list of megathread as well as OD may be of use. I'll also give you the link to the recovery support linkes as follows

- The Dark Side
- Sober Living
- Mental Health

The people there are incredible with the support they deliver to each other. I've found great comfort and advice from those sub-forums and highly recommend them if you are seeking recovery.

We also have a Adoption Programme where current members befriend new members to help them with anything Bluelight-related or to just simply be a friend. If you are interested in this, please feel free to post expressing your interest.

I would also advise you to read the Greenlighter's Guide and the rules known as BLUA (Bluelight User Agreement) because they protect us members as well as the site. For instance; one of the rules is no sourcing, if a member had not read the rules and discusses sourcing, then they may receive a warning or whatever, and if they had have read the rules, they would have avoided receiving, eg a warning.

Please feel free to ask any question re Bluelight and you're more than welcome to PM me if you'd like a friend, something to chat to/listen etc. I'm currently on suboxone so I understand what it's like to be on suboxone. I was on 12mg, am now on 10mg as I'm slowly trying to reduce. I did start on 8mg but had to increase as was still craving heavily and ended drinking quite a lot per evening. I was only on codeine so it shows that cravings doesn't depend on strength of opiate.

All the vey best and Enjoy!

That one is a fast method of tapering for someone who doesn't have alot of strips, or someone going into a detox facility for a week or who needs to be sober really fast. You could do the same thing except stay on each dose for a week mabye 2 before dropping cause you right at 6 years you need to take baby steps. Hell if you want you could stay on each dose a month before dropping anymore just as long as you follow a taper similar to the one I showed you you'll be fine the slower you do it the easier it is and the faster you do it the more difficult it will be.

I have done tapers though where I go from dope to suboxone when I get into detox and I go from 8 mgs to 1mg in only a week. Even doing these fast tapers in detox wernt so bad they were pleasant actaully

Slamming is IVing a drug. Also known as smashing, shooting, picking, spiking, or a hug from god.

Ah I've only heard of banging. So I did right by giving the IV link. Thanks for that.

Mara6272,

Trainspotter is spot on.

You've been on suboxone for 6 years and I'm assuming opiate-based pills for the 12 seems as subs is used as a replacement for opiate addiction so in theory you've had some sort of opiate in your body for 18 years (please don't think I'm judging you, I can assure you I'm not). The reason I've mentioned that is that slow would probably benefit you. When we talk opiate-based drugs they affect our brain, our receptors, our endorphins and I am assuming (please, someone, correct me if I'm wrong) that the longer you take opiates, the longer it takes your body to repair. If you look on Sober Living you will see a lot of good threads from a senior moderator called Neversickanymore, on addiction and the brain as well as other topics around addiction. I highly recommend (of course it's up to you and I'm only suggesting) you to have a look at them because they are very good at explaining all of this, far better than I am.

Also, if you have not accessed the following link, Suboxone/ Buprenorphine Megathread and FAQ V.18.0 I would recommend it because the members and moderators there are very knowledgeable in suboxone and suboxone detoxification. You're also in good hands with Trainspotter. He knows his stuff and is very supportive and caring.

I almost forgot - welcome to Bluelight, and although your post was addressed to another poster, I'm sorry that I did not welcome you earlier. Please feel free to use any of the links I've given to the poster above.

All the best and Enjoy!

I think with suboxone less is more. I find the longer the taper, the more you are dragging it out.

Personally the easiest kick I ever had was just going to a doctor and asking for detox medications.

I ended up with muscle relaxers (methocarbamol), clonodine, and promethazine. I also took lopermide and tylenol as directed.

That is pretty much cold turkey with some medicine that really eases things.

A straight up cold turkey kick is rougher but you get it over faster.

I personally like to get it over as fast as possible and not drag it out.

That's only true if you have never taken suboxone before and just want to get on it for A week to taper down to nothing in detox or sum thing in that case making it short as possible is the best way to go. If you've been on it years though then doing it fast is not a good idea you want to go slow if that's the case.
