I'm getting some money soon. I'm worried. Help.

If you have an amount of money coming in that you don't need immediately for survival and that would otherwise go on entertainment, then invest all of it, or part of it, however much you can afford, into property or in an investment management fund.

We are about to enter a bull market in which both are expected to really take off. With the BoE looking to retain interest rates at their current level, savings accounts and cash ISA's won't pay out nearly as much. You'll be really setting yourself up for the future and it'll be good for the psyche to know you can stash away money and turn it into assets rather than spunking it all away immediately.

Leave enough to have a social life without drugs but having assets to your name will really relax the pressure in the future and you'll be glad for it. A chappy on here lived for years off what he accumulated. :\

Maybe take up playing pool.

I would love to do that on thursday!

Been looking for someone to go playing snooker with for a while now. I'm a total beginner (obviously I've knocked a few balls around a pool table and played a few frames of snooker) but I want to start playing.

Myself and a friend used to play snooker regularly. He got to know the fella who runs the snooker club and they let him have the keys when they were shut so we could go in when nobody was there and play for free. Was ideal. Although we did always take a crate of beer and a bag of weed in I don't believe that is mandatory.

I like the idea of just going somewhere on a whim.

I stopped buying drugs for several weeks cos I had a "going somewhere on a whim" ahead (it was a long whim). As others have said, hobbies and stuff - things that are more or less as pointless as taking drugs all day and also eat up money - are handy. Nipping off for the weekend now and then also a good idea. Other than that, don't buy any drugs. At some point it has to come down to just deciding not to and sticking with that decision. Distractions are easier in the short-term for sure.

Congrats on relative sobriety and new job <3

Oh one more thought..been thinking about this for myself actually but not for everyone...my local charity rescue dog place is over run and under staffed they have asked for people just to take a dog for a walk a few hours a week...I quite fancy that. Maybe something slightly different to the usual!

That too. Not necessarily dog walking - any voluntary work. There's all sorts of things you can do just for a day or two a week. Can be very rewarding but does take some organising and finding something to suit.

If the worst comes to the worst just pay your rent, bills, buy some food and then spend everything that remains on material stuff immediately. Day filled and money gone.:)

Exercise and lots of it. Makes you feel good and you also tire yourself out to the point where you're not thinking so much.

As for the money, there's music, books, video games or you could put some aside and save up for a nice holiday.

Buy premium bonds or put the money into a ISA. You can get the money back again, but it takes at least a week (a working week at that, so 7+ days)..

Takes away the instant ability to buy drugs, but you've not wasted the money. And there is an off chance you could win a million on the premium bonds. That's when you should worry about buying drugs..

I have a sneaky suspicion that DS would probably rather return to smack addiction than become a psytrance producer.

So true. I'd rather be banging up in my groin than take part in audio bullying.

I would love to do that on thursday!

Tell you what mate - It seems like we're forming a plan.

I've already been exercising on a more regular basis and yes it does seem to do you good (Who'd have thought, eh?) so i'll keep that up. I've got some sort've game plan. I'm going to buy a model car and all the bits and pieces required to build and paint it properly for something to do in my spare time. I know, so rock and roll but it has to be gone.

So it seems that ultimately I need to try and not be a dickhead - something I struggle with. I'll let you all know how this pans out. I wish someone would bring the sketamine back, well more easily available sketamine so that I'd have at least one drug that I knew I could take without SERIOUS repercussions.
