i have a few questions regarding using ecstasy for the first time
i am thinking of taking ecstasy for the first time in about a month after my exams at a club but theres a few complications
-im worried about taking it because im worried i have SVT in my heart, i had two 'episodes' of svt soon after i got my tonsils out but they may have been brought on by stimulant drinks. If i took half a pill would it be ok?
-another worry is that i am on prozac (10mg a day) for what will be about 2 months at the time of the event. I was prescribed it for depression but i am not really depressed. Will this be a problem?

Ive smoked a good bit of weed lately and have had no problems if its any use
Thanks for all answers in advance

EDIT: thank you all for your answers, -the reason i had an episode of svt was most likely due to the morphine and painkillers i was on post operation
-as regards to the effects with prozac, i am not depressed but was perscribedit. What will the effects be if i take it while still on prozac and then the effects if i stop taking it two weeks in advance?
Thankyou again

Unfortunately, I cannot speak to the SVT.

However, I can say that prozac will be a problem for MDMA. I hope you get a chance to try MDMA, but it should be after your antidepressant course is over for some time, and after you check with your doctor about your SVT.

1. If you're worried about taking it because of your heart, then don't use.
2. If you are on Prozac now, and you are still on it in 2 months and THEN you use... you're NOT gonna get any effects, no. Thats because SSRIs (like prozac) ruin the effects from MDMA, because they both do stuff to serotonin. It could also be dangerous to take MDMA and SSRI together, if im not mistaken.

Please educate yourself a bit more before even concidering using it. You do not seem ready, at all

I'll try to answer your questions best I can, do not hesitate to ask more here or PM me (or anyone else for that matter) with questions

-As with other amphetamines like speed or crystal meth, MDMA will put a strain on your cardiovascular system. If the SVT is brought on every time you drink a stimulant drink (with caffeine, taurine,...) it will probably occur when you take MDMA too. Because while MDMA (in my experience) doesn't elevate your heart rate all that much when you aren't doing physically demanding activities you can be certain it has much more potent stimulant properties than energy drinks. Not so much as for instance crystal meth but enough to pose a danger.

-Prozac is an SSRI. This will diminish the effects the effects of MDMA or even block them completely. Do not take MDMA while you are on prozac. While it shouldn't be dangerous it will completely mute your roll, MDMA will not work. You need to be prozac-free for at least a month before you can roll. Otherwise you will not feel anything or at the very least you will only feel a small part of the MDMA effect. Please do not ruin your first roll with this. Don't try it to see if it'll work, you will be very disappointed and because of this maybe you will decide not to roll anymore and you would lose out on the magic that is MDMA. Besides that not much is known about prozac<->MDMA so for all we know it could be dangerous as well, though evidence suggests it is not. A lot of users tried this combination and while every single one of them survived without harm as far as I know, they all noticed almost no effects from MDMA.

Also I have to add that you should not stop taking the prozac just to be able to take MDMA. The prozac was given to you for depression and taking MDMA will only worsen this depression. Take care of your mental state first before you try MDMA. MDMA will cause more depression as it throws your hormones out of balance temporarily

*edit* Oh and while it is not important at the moment in your case, remember one thing: NEVER EVER take MDMA with a MAOI anti-depressant like Nardil or others (prozac is an SSRI not a MAOI). This is a deadly combination. The two drugs synergise and cause serotonin syndrome which is deadly if not treated immediately. I am not trying to scare you, MDMA is a very safe drug, but you need to be informed of certain things before you use it. Like exstazy said, please inform yourself until you know enough. This is a very good first step, you are asking for advice. Don't hesitate to ask more questions if you want to know more, we all had to learn from others at some point. We were all once newbies in the drug world =D

i'd say don't do it if caffeine gives you problems. mdma is a stimulant and has a similar (acute) side effects profile to most amphetamines, even if the subjective effects are pretty different.
taking half a pill (if it contains an average amount of mdma; depending on your location and connections it may even be more likely that a pill contains some other stimulant substances (often with pronounced tachycardia as side effect) than mdma - hence we always recommend getting a test kit), anyway taking half a pill is often pointless, especially when it's your first time and you don't know what effects to look for. most people i know went from feeling barely anything to full on rolling when they crossed a certain threshold (should be somwhere around 70-100mg) for the first time.

SSRIs normally block the pleasant effects of mdma, leaving you with just a sketchy (not necessarily too pleasant) stimulant high. the mechanism by which mdma releases serotonin which is responsible for its unique effects depends on a serotonin transporter function and this is blocked by fluoxetine. SSRIs can also lower the levels of serotonin transporters for months after cessation of use. with the low dose you're taking i wouldn't expect the prozac to totally block the good side, but it's very likely that the effects will be diminished. but again this can vary wildly from person to person.

doesn't elevate your heart rate all that much when you aren't doing physically demanding activities

iirc they found an increase of resting heart rate of around 30bpm in a recent (maps? or was it the one by david nutt?) study.

of course that doesn't mean i don't reach 180 while dancing like a madman :). ime it needs more physical activity than with amphetamine, but it's definitely capable of doing that.

What do you mean by sketchy stimulant high?

If you have ever tried straight amphetamines: that feeling, but less focused, more edgy, more cloudy and more out of it. Generally more unpleasant
If you have never tried straight amphetamines: Drink 2 liters of very strong coffee, stay awake for 48 hours and then drink 2 liters more. About that feeling...

iirc they found an increase of resting heart rate of around 30bpm in a recent (maps? or was it the one by david nutt?) study.

Indeed it is true MDMA raises the heart rate. And furthermore I should've considered it was his first time. Black is right lacedup420, it will probably increase your heart rate a lot, not a bit like I said.
In my case this was also the case in the beginning when I started doing MDMA. But now after years of use I have measured my heart rate in rest and it does not differ much from when sober. On average +10bpm. It does go up a lot more when I'm dancing than it goes up when dancing sober though. About 140 when sober vs about 180 rolling while really dancing all out for long periods of time

the others already anwered pretty well; with all those complications it's not worth it IMHO
but i have a question for you: why are you prescribed SSRIs if you aren't depressed? that shit has a ton of side effects and if you don't even need it why bothering?

So what would you say my heart rate would be if i was at rest while on it? Would it be like you have just been running for 20mins or something? I excersise regulary and have no problems with my heart when i do

That depends on your physical condition. It won't be +100bpm or something. Could range from anywhere between +0bpm and about +40 bpm. Because it is your first time it will most likely increase a lot rather than a little. But it is not the higher heart rate that is worrying. It's the fact that a very very mild stimulant like caffeine triggers the SVT. MDMA is a much more potent stimulant than caffeine so this will probably trigger it too and that could be dangerous. If I was you I would ask my doctor honestly if MDMA poses a real danger combined with the SVT. He will probably say yes though and he would be right

The Prozac is the first obstacle though, this will ruin the effects of the MDMA. It will not be worth it

Thanks, what I forgot to mention I think regarding the svt was that i had just had an operation and it was most likely the pain along with the large doses of morphine etc i was on that triggered it and the 2 cans of red bull didnt help..i know that weed increases heart rate and i never have any problems with that or with exercise?

As with the prozac how would you suggest overcoming that obsticle? And would i get any effects if i didnt take the prozac a few days in advance? Would there be any effects at all if i was still on it? Like pupil dilation etc?

Taking MDMA with the SVT will always be a risk. It doesn't matter what the cause is, as long as caffeine still triggers an SVT it will be risky to do a more potent stimulant. What you can do is try to trigger the SVT (as long as they are not too severe) by drinking caffeine. If it doesn't trigger it anymore the SVT is probably slowly disappearing and a good while after that it should be relatively safe to try MDMA. That is if you weren't on prozac.

So as for the prozac, i have no suggestion to overcome this obstacle, I would suggest you do not overcome this obstacle. Stopping an anti-depressant is not something you want to do just to be able to take MDMA. You should first consult with your doctor before stopping them, as they were prescribed to help you and should be taken until not needed anymore. Furthermore stopping an SSRI cold turkey will produce (very bad) withdrawal, do not do this, the only way to stop is to slowly lower the dose until you are at 0. And even then it takes about a month after the last dose for the prozac to fully leave your body as it has a very long half-life. So stopping the prozac for a few days will not change anything because it will take a month for it to leave your body. Do not stop this drug on your own, such a tapering process has to happen under the supervision of a doctor. My advice would be to first take care of the mental problems for which you were prescribed the prozac (you say it was for depression but you are not depressed, but there has to be a valid reason why you were prescribed this medication) and after this is taken care of you can stop the prozac under supervision of your doctor and only then you should be thinking about taking MDMA

I know this is not what you want to hear, sorry, but it is advice I would heed if I were you. And you will not get different advice from other members I think. Stopping your prozac just to be able to roll is a very bad idea and coupled with the SVT I would wait until your problems are sorted out before doing drugs that mess with your serotonin system

*edit* I see that you are on only 10mg of prozac. This is a very very low dose, lower even than is effective I think. Does your doctor have plans to increase this dose over time or...? Anyways this means that you will still need to taper off if you want to stop but that it won't take so long. I did some research and saw the advice to taper with 25% each week for a withdrawal free discontinuation. Don't know if this is correct though. And stopping the prozac is still a bad idea =D

Thanks again for your informative answer.
As for the svt i will try your idea with the caffeine to see if it triggers it. I drink stimulant drinks (red bull etc) regularly enough and i dont even notice any changes with my heart rate.

As for the prozac, the reason i was prescribed it is a long story (which i shouldnt really go into detail about but i will anyway).. I was caught smoking a joint on school grounds..during school hours... and the only reason i said i was depressed was to stop myself from being expelled...
The dose i am on is 2.5ml once a day {20mg per 5ml} and i am taking it so that the school know that i am trying to help my "depression", therefore not being expelled. Its of no use to me so stopping it wouldnt be such a bad thing?
Thanks again in advance

In that case it would definately not be a bad thing. An anti-depressant is (usually) a very powerful medication that makes big changes in your hormone system. It should not be taken lightly as the side-effects are usually pretty severe. Luckily in your case you are only on a low dose. I cannot recommend a tapering plan for you as I have no experience with prozac. If I were you I would post in the "mental health" section. Tell them you want to taper off of 10mg/day, tell them how long you have been taking the stuff and ask if they can provide you with a tapering plan (tapering means slowly decreasing your dose over a period of time, I didn't know that word when I first hear it so just to be clear...)

In case your story is true it won't have negative consequences if you stop taking the medication, only positive as prozac will only produce side-effects with no positive effects if you don't really need it. I understand your situation and understand why you told them you were depressed. It was a very good plan actually but you should have researched prozac before really starting to take it as it is a very powerful drug with a lot of side-effects.

Sucks they would expel you for smoking a joint and it sucks even more the only way out is to say you are depressed. What a screwed up system we live in... Anyways you are welcome! That's what this site is all about. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you have a fantastic first roll, let us know how it went, though I am sure you will have a FANTASTIC time. MDMA is a beautiful drug =D

Thanks so much for all your information and opinions!
As regards to the comedown/hangover, do you have any tips on how it can be reduced etc? Would taking the prozac and vitamins the next day help?
I'll be sure to let you know, BlueBull, if i have any more questions as you sure know your stuff!

If it is pure MDMA and you do not take too much you will not have a comedown or hangover because it is your first time. On the contrary you will feel very very very good for a few weeks after. Very happy and at peace like you have just been on a long holiday ;) but it has to be pure MDMA and not a very high dose, a normal dose without any other drugs (besides perhaps some weed)

Comedowns only occur when you take too much or don't give your body enough time to recover after the last time you rolled. If you take care of yourself, don't do huge doses, only do pure tested MDMA (buy a testkit) and take long enough breaks in between rolls bad comedowns will not happen. There are exceptions to this ofcourse but for the majority that never misused the substance in some way and that are healthy both physically and mentally the comedown is not unpleasant or depressing. On the contrary it is very pleasant. They even have a name for that, it's called 'afterglow' =D Vitamins can ofcourse never hurt but if you are scared of a hangover or comedown you have nothing to fear, you won't have one (if you stick to the rules)

As for prozac after the roll. It is still being debated wether or not this provides protection against neurotoxicity. Studies in rats have shown that it indeed protects against neurotoxicity but they fed the rats doses of MDMA way way way higher than recreational dose to induce this neurotoxocity. This means that MDMA in normal recreational doses is probably not very neurotoxic if at all neurotoxic. If you are not going to take huge doses I do not think taking prozac afterwards would be benificial because you would not have much neurotoxocity to protect against. On top of that prozac is a powerful substance on its own and stays in the body for a long time (up to a month, the half-life is 1–3 days if you've only been taking it for a short time and 4–6 days for long term use) so I would not use it to combat neurotoxocity. But this is my personal opinion and NOT advice I give you. I could be wrong, it's just that nobody has ever shown me any proof that recreational doses of MDMA are noticeably neurotoxic and the studies that have been done seem to indicate it isn't. It's not because you have a comedown that there has been neurotoxic damage and like I said, you won't have a comedown. If you have any more questions feel free to post here or PM me

Ok thanks i was just wondering because my friends who have done it say things like "make sure you have alot of weed the next day cus youre real sad after you take it"
But i guess in my area the 'yokes' as we call them wouldnt be the best quality, definately not pure mdma (blue ghosts are the ones i plan on using)

If it is pure MDMA you will not feel sad if you haven't combined it with other substances and didn't do big doses, trust me you will almost literally glow the next day ;) I would bet your friends either have unpure/dirty pills, they do huge doses, they combine it with other drugs/alcohol (do not consume alcohol when rolling, a few beers can't hurt but if you get drunk you will become very foggy and sketchy and you will get a hangover/comedown, they do not combine well for most people) or they have been doing MDMA for a long time

Do these look like the pills you have? Because if they are not fakes (fakes exist, there have been reports about blue ghosts that contain other things than MDMA on pillreports, look it up) they should contain MDMA only and they should even contain a high dose. Be aware though that if they are indeed the same pills they are high dose and it could be a bit too much to take a whole one for your first time. But because there are different batches of this pill I can't tell you if that will be the case with the ones you have. In fact it's forbidden on this site to speculate on things like that because that could be dangerous. You will have to make sure yourself that they are indeed pure (once again->testkit) as we will never be able to tell you

*edit* Here is a thread about someone experiencing a very bad comedown. Read the first few lines. Conclusion: High dose (300mg-400mg) of an unknown substance (untested) combined with cocaine and alcohol. And if you read other comedown threads it's almost always the case that the person experiencing the comedown has 'broken' the rules in some way. Treat MDMA with respect and it will be kind to you, don't treat it with respect and it will kick your ass in half =D that's how it works

They look like them but i live in dublin and the ones you linked were in a different place.
One of my friends who i was going to ask to get them for me said "yokes are always mixed with something"
If i get them i will probably only take half a pill on the night?
