can I have one reply pls?
after workout I get 75 grams of 80% whey... when bulking on non training sedentary days I get 50-60 gram shakes.

I am 190 pound with about 18-20% BF

in all these studies I see like 20grams,30grams.... I am afraid I am significantly wasting whey becose I copy steroid user diets and supplement company propaganda.

I have money problems at the momemt,so if I sit on my ass all day and take like 3-4 60gram whey shakes, how much of that protein actualy goes to build muscle?

I fear that I utilize 15-25 grams max and rest is oxidized, shit out or stored as fat...
I fear when I cut my whey intake to half that get less muscle cuz I cant monitor my amino acid levels in blood

This page concludes, after statsitics', that drinking a shake an hour or 2 after your first is best; split up your shake into 2 or 3 and you'll get even more benefits. Switch proteins for maximum benefits- a lot of whey is filled with crap it seems : ( The clean stuff is so expensive. Hemp, pea, or other plant proteins are very kickass but vary in concsistency and flavor.

How much protein you get after workouts doesn't really matter. How much total protein do you get per day?

150 is enough. Just make sure you never go below that number. Eating 250 instead of 150 will only make a very tiny difference.

I know this was posted a while ago....

After working out in the morning you should drink a protein shake (mixed with water) within 20mins of working out then have a good meal within 1hour (chicken, rice and broccoli your protein carbs and iron). You should then be eating protein, carbs and iron about 5 times a day and before you go to sleep have half a protein shake mixed with milk. The first protein shake should be made with water so it can absorb into your body quickly, the one you have before bed should be made with milk as it's slow release because of the fat content. The amount of protein you eat in meals throughout the day should be measured 1g protein to 3lbs body weight.
The body builders I know use this method are some of the uk's best, the gym they go to is "muscle works" gym In London. In 2011 half of the uk body building finialist came from this gym so they do know what their doing!

None of this is particularly true.

That is how the proffessinals that I have seen do it. If you don't think it's wright then just ignore it.

Protein is certainly utilized better right after a workout, but carbs and fat are important too. Preparing a solid meal after a workout is better than taking whey or other protein shakes, IMO.

Read the article. Menno, the author, is a professional.

The "post workout" window where you take protein or whatever is a myth

Just because you don't have a intrest in consuming meat I can now see why you would agree with that article.

It has little to do with agree or disagree. You just sound invested in defending your own preconceived notions.

I hardly lift and don't particularly care about optimizing putting on muscle. My profession is yoga. I'm simply disseminating what I feel is the most accurate information.

The article is absurdly thorough and scientific. If you have issue with it, specifically point it out. Otherwise I can't help but think you didn't read it.

What you should consume after a workout really depends on a number of different factors. Hight intensity interval training (HIIT) it is best to consume carbs to protein 4:1 because you are not burning fat cals but carb cals and you need to release glycegen which has been lost during exercise. I tended to use kinetica orange n mango, was lovely. If it's bodybuilding you're meant to take protein.

Personally better to have a good meal of chicken, Broccoli, sweet potato; that sort of thing. Protein are useful for convenience but they're processed n nothing can beat proper, healthy food, not just for your insides - but also for your skin n hair.

When I was eating healthy in 2010 not only did i become uk size 8 (us size 4) but my skin was soft, hair was sulky n people would keep coming to me, asking what I was doing lol. Oh plus I did INSANITY.
