I sprained my ankle pretty bad today. It looks bad and hurts like a bitch. I know it's a part of having a sprained ankle and plan on going to the hospital tomorrow. I took NSAIDs and it didn't help with the pain. I even took some tramadol and codeine but it still hurts. Do hospitals typically give out pain RXs for sprains?

Lol no man they will tell you to tough it out. I had my ankle bone sticking out of my skin when i busted it once. I had to have pins put in and a cast up to my groin an all they told me to take was advil and Tylenol. It sucked but it wasn't to horrible I lived. Just rest it don't take a bunch of pain killers and start walking around on it cause it feels good that's what the doctors don't want is you walking around on it while masking the pain it'll never heal then

Really just depends on what doctor you see, although I doubt most doctors would refuse for trainspotter's case (that seems plain ridiculous to me, you coulda sued them i mean a compound fracture?! jesus). So for a messed up ankle, if it seems bad enough upon examination and with your extra complaints, there is a possibility you could get Rx'd because that seems legitimate but again, it mainly just depends on where you go and who you see.

^ Sued them for not giving opiates? 8)

Sounds like you just want some opiates to me. No one can tell you what a doctor will prescribe and we can't tell you what to say to get opiates.

I'm closing this thread since it is completely self serving and has nothing to do with harm reduction.
