incest (consenting) does it bother you?

Sorry but I don't understand the logic. There's plenty of fish in the sea is a metaphor used when you get dumped, not when you fall in love :p

Love is just a temporary state.. if I was unfortunate enough to fall into passionate love with a family member than I would take a long leave of absence and let that shit blow over.

Which is fine for you; but I don't think you should be pushing your ideals to be spread amongst all of humanity.

Honestly I don't see siblings falling in love as a terrible thing. I mean, you already know them thoroughly; what they like, what makes them angry, etc.
Personaly i think though that if the feeling of love for you is so disposable, I feel bad for you (and to those whom you may have hurt)

To be fair, I wouldn't tell "polite company" that I met my wife through my mate. It's almost just as awkward for the same reason that you argue. There are 6 (actually 7) billion people on the earth...did you bother looking anywhere else?

She picked me up hitch hiking so she was my friend first if you want to get technical

There are at least a billion retards in the world I would go near as this thread reveals. I'm a little bit fussy it appears.

I wouldn't qualify someone who picked me up off the road immediately as my friend.

Also, I would think a hitch hiker would be more familiar/exposed to the "isolation" territory...as in, the deserted life...the ones that create the exact situations this thread is implying.

People have been marrying their cousins for millennia. My cousin's wife in NC told me that my son and her daughter were second cousins. She said that made them "kissin' cousins" and said that until fairly recently there was no stigma attached to such a thing.

I was a damn good find on the side of the road it seems. Good enough to take back to her place for a party. I just must have magic thumbs.

She was living with her brother at the time. Almost certain they weren't fucking at the time either which was a bonus.

Find =/= Friend. However the story of how you met sounds pretty cool.

Getting back on topic, I find that most friendships having many similarities to relationships in families (siblings, etc). Being similar, I find it difficult to not compare them when talking of these types of relationships.

Just as it's easy for a family member to "mold" someone into a decision, a friend has an extremely similar effect on someone...

Look, I know you don't really care what I think. But honestly - imagine this

You begin a sexual relationship with your brother. You guys fall in love/lust.
You guys tell your parents. They cry.
You will be banned from family events.
You will be ridiculed and gossiped about.
You might have defective children.
They will be taken away from you, or you both will go to prison.
You two fall out of love.
Kaboom,

Incest.
Not even once.

There's a hell of a lot of assumptions there :\

Having children of their own would be irresponsible..

Falling in love may never happen.
Their parents might not care / don't have to know.
Gossip happens any way.. who gives a fuck?

If you have a brother and a sister surely you could try it twice Claire

why stop there? get grandma, grandpa on board; that one weird, creepy uncle everyone has that gets real drunk at christmas (that probably is into it anyways); the aunt with an obesity problem, the opportunities are endless. the lebos would have a field day with all those cousins.

yes, i made assumptions. but they are reasonable assumptions based on societies reactions to these kind of things.
imagine your son and daughter were sleeping together. there is NO DOUBT you would be UTTERLY disgusted, repulsed, and quite possibly murderous.

i'd double murder suicide for that shit tbh

So if your son and/or daughter turned out to be gay would you want them dead too?

Here are the 10 countries where homosexuality may be punishable by death:
Yemen: According to 1994 penal code, married men can be sentenced to death by stoning for homosexual intercourse. Unmarried men face whipping or one year in prison. Women face up to seven years in prison.
Iran: In accordance with sharia law, homosexual intercourse between men can be punished by death, and men can be flogged for lesser acts such as kissing. Women may be flogged.
Iraq: The penal code does not expressly prohibit homosexual acts, but people have been killed by militias and sentenced to death by judges citing sharia law.
Mauritania: Muslim men engaging in homosexual sex can be stoned to death, according to a 1984 law. Women face prison.
Nigeria: Federal law classifies homosexual behavior as a felony punishable by imprisonment, but several states have adopted sharia law and imposed a death penalty for men. A law signed in early January makes it illegal for gay people countrywide to hold a meeting or form clubs.
Qatar: Sharia law in Qatar applies only to Muslims, who can be put to death for extramarital sex, regardless of sexual orientation.
Saudi Arabia: Under the country’s interpretation of sharia law, a married man engaging in sodomy or any non-Muslim who commits sodomy with a Muslim can be stoned to death. All sex outside of marriage is illegal.
Somalia: The penal code stipulates prison, but in some southern regions, Islamic courts have imposed Sharia law and the death penalty.
Sudan: Three-time offenders under the sodomy law can be put to death; first and second convictions result in flogging and imprisonment. Southern parts of the country have adopted more lenient laws.
United Arab Emirates: Lawyers in the country and other experts disagree on whether federal law proscribes the death penalty for consensual homosexual sex or only for rape. In a recent Amnesty International report, the organization said it was not aware of any death sentences for homosexual acts. All sexual acts outside of marriage are banned.
