Misc Blue Lotus worth it?

Anyone ever tried blue lotus? Did it produce any noticeable effects?

Thanks

I've enjoyed Blue Lotus a few times. On it's own it, smoked, it produces a very nice body buzz, and a very slightly altered state of mind.

I personally prefer it mixed with cannabis, as it produces a wonderful and mild euphoria in addition to the increased "stoned" feeling.

I've heard poor things about the tea, and stick to smoking it for mild effects.

I've heard the effect of smoking blue lotus compared to that of some of the more popular benzodiazapenes prescribed for social anxiety and panic attack. I've been prescribed xanax for the past 10 years for anxiety/panic attacks and would like to try lotus if this is actually true.

Also, is blue lotus scheduled as an illegal drug in the u.s.? I had never even heard of it until a few days ago (on one of the forums here, actually), and the area in which I live is flooded with experimental drugs and research chemicals (in addition to piss poor quality and grossly overpriced black tar heroin... but that's another story). Is this one of those things that comes in a foil pack at head shops or is it distributed in a more covert fashion?

just curious...

Get a bottle of wine and empty enough out to put about half an ounce of blue lotus petals in it and re-cork it and let it sit for a month or so and shake it daily.
Then after it has soaked for a while and the alkaloids in it are infused into the wine, filter the wine through a paper towel (to avoid drinking the petals) and try a glass.. used to work for me.

I also have used the 20:1 extract tablets. They work well for slight anxiety relief and relaxation but who knows what is really in them.

Google is your friend bro.

Google... what a thought :). Turns out it's Egyptian in origin and only regulated in Louisiana, thank you Erowid. I think I'll try the wine thing as soon as I get my hands on some of the pedals, thanks. Apparently to make the tea one would boil the entire flower... does this sound right? Would the tea have a different effect (i.e. contain different alkaloids) because you use more than just the pedals or would you end up with roughly the same effect?

I've never made tea out of it so I don't know how well it works.
By "full flowers" do you mean the petals and the stamens?
If so than the stamens are said to have more alkaloids in them than just the petals IIRC.
Try using both if you can get them.. See what you like. Some people say blue lotus doesn't do shit for them, sometimes i even used to think it was just placebo effect when i used to use it.. but hey, thinking you're feeling something is better than not feeling anything right? lol.

Holy shit Louisiana is backwards. They're always on the forefront of banning shit, yet they were the last state to raise the drinking age. Go figure.

Also, on erowid I believe there is a recipe for Lotus Beer. It looks really awesome, I have yet to try a wild ferment myself though. Would be worth looking into if you like the effects. Or perhaps making a tincture with it.

Here's the beer recipe and an experienced user's perspective on Lotus:

I agree wholly. I have survived some rough days thanks to the placebo effect. To answer your question, the recipe I looked at called for the entire flower (pistol, stamen, pedal, ovum, sepal, receptacle, peduncle, and so on). I wonder if the alkaloid content is the same (i.e. the proportions of the specific present alkaloids), or just present in higher concentrations in the inner portion of the flower. If you were to smoke it, I'm assuming you'd want to take a dried flower and grind it up a bit, in which case you'd be getting a mixture of pedal, stamen, and the other parts. I heard some nice things in a different thread about smoking it, but the suggestion didn't get much applause, so I couldn't gauge much from it in a wider sense than just one person's opinion.

there is an e cig liquid with blue lotus extract supposedly 50x considering ordering some. doubt anybodys tried it yet but sounds interesting
