Nigella barred from US

I thought of you as soon as I read that story today Ismene :)

Of course, there's every chance she could be turned away, but I'd usually expect that to occur one she touched down in the US. In fact, she has a team of people working for her, plus the TV production crew presumably... I think at least one of them would have done a bit of research or planning beforehand.

I have to agree. Not that I doubt she would be refused a visa on those grounds but "turned away at the gate" while trying to board the plane? Doubt it.

As if she'd be trying to jump on that plane without a visa already sorted out for her. Never mind the fact that she was in the US not long ago whoring it around chat shows.

If she was going there for the same thing, or for any interview/appearance, then she would need a work visa. The visa waiver she apparently filled in online wouldn't cover her afaik.
 
I bet I'm barred from the USA. They aren't big on Godless commie tree-hugging druggie pervert freaks who eschew the right to bear arms in favour of the right not to get shot.

I know I'm barred from Saudi Arabia ..... not that I'd ever want to go there, either, mind .....

I swear down this happens - depending on who checks your passport and depending on the visa requirements posted by the country your visiting then some airlines will simply not allow you to board. I was 'barred' for travelling once as the country I was arriving into had changed the wording on the visa requirements (I normally take a screen shot of the requirements before I leave) - the only way I could get on the flight was to sign a waiver that 'IF I got stopped on arrival then I would not hold the airline responsible and that I had to arrange my own flight out of the county [at my expense] etc).
 
If you do get refusal to board the plane or refusal to enter a country for w/e reason, presumably you loose all your money you've spent on your flight, and there is no recourse to claim it back ? I guess all this shit will be in the small print somehere. Maybe you didnt have a prescription note for your meds, or had one too many drinks, or were doing something far more risky /reckless. None of these things are particularly things that i would like to take a gamble on.

I can understand some mental health type questions being asked in these 'amber level' terrorist threat times. But clealrly no organised terrorist is gonna openly admit on a psychological profile to having desires to become a human suicide bomb or such like. Its arguable whether these people have mental health probl;ems or not. What about people with issues like anxiety or depression ? Are they gonna be barred next ? After everyone with 'anger management issues' or a police record has done so. You do some hear some tales of drunken aresoholes on planes having tantrums when they are refused more alcohol, causing a plane of 250 people to divert to the nearest airport as a precaution. I do have some sympathy and empathy for others problems sometimes, but that level of sheer selfish aresoholeness is quite beyond the pale. Fuck up 250 peoples trips just cos you werenet allowed another drink.

God sorry for the waffle, didnt take any ethyl past 8pm, last night and only took 60mg, but its kept me up all night. Despite 2 x 10 mg etiz doses. Maybe i should have used dyphenhydramine but that stuff is unpredictable, it can make you sleep for 14 hours or something.
 
Says that to qualify for a visa Nigella will have to squat and urinate in front of a customs official for a drug test.

I've done worse :D - Had to do the glove of love before, thankfully the guy was cute and had short nails :D.

Aye, that's not exactly on my list of places to visit either. I'd not mind America despite me being most of those things but it'd be somewhere hipster as shit. Also Boston. I've always felt drawn to Boston.
