What's so great about benzos?

I take them for my anxiety (ativan) and have even had Klonopin before (just gave me a headache). They just make me pass out in a matter of a couple hours, tops. I know different people react differently, but in comments and stuff on FB and forums people are like take a big fat Xanny, or take a Valium.

I know it helps you relax and treats anxiety, but why is it described as this big euphoric drug? Just curious.

its a subtle release from the bullshit of daily life, nothing to be concerned about, anything is possible, nobody can kill ur buzz
to me thats really euphoric, especially in contrast to my mind frame of panic-despair-anxiety etc

ppl have preferences for which benzo they like tho

i also find no recreational value at all on benzos, no high or whatsoever. but some people claim to have euphoria and even some kind of drunkenness from them. i wish i was like them, i'd love to get drunk off a pill, but for me, i never FEEL anything, although it does stops my anxiety and that's the only good i find in them.

If you are always hypertense and have s.a.d. especially it feels so good to be relaxed and carefree of any anxiousness im everyday life and around others, especially strangers.

Allows me to enjoy my time more as long as im not totally in a hypnotic state so I can function properly and actually remember.

that to me is like heroin for opiate users. It just takes a huge load off things that would make me a very frustrated and uptight person.

Some people really feel it apparently. I am with you though. I will literally feel nothing then act like a blackout drunk after a certain dose. I can only envision their utility as emergency sedatives (IV) or with combos. They are the most overrated class of drug in existence, totally lacklustre.

IMO benzos are a hit & miss. I started out with baby xanax(0.5mg). It wasn't long before the binge drinking and blackouts kicked in. I would feel so sloppy when I would be smoking weed too. What I figured that benzos actually did for alcohol was that it made me a more relaxed drunk and I never had to drink too much to feel where I wanted to feel. But when you have all of the pills on you, the tendancy to take all is there and that's exactly what happens. I'd end up over drinking, drinking codeine, smoking large amounts of weed and on like 10-15mg a night probably. I would blackout and lose personal items like a phone, graduation ring, a nice belt and some shades. That was the down side of every benzo for me. The high dose, inhibitionless, blackout, sloppy rampages was what made me feel disgusted by them.

The actual good part about the drug was that I low doses it cleared all the nasty effects like paranoia and anxiety for my weed highs. But I'm talkin 0.5mg Xanax, 10mg Valium, 1-2mg ativan for the worst for most forgiving effects.
With drink I found that similar doses (maybe one dose higher) that that was the sweet spot. No blackouts and sloppiness.

i take benzos the same way or for the same reason i take an aspirin, to help fix an ailment..aspirin for headaches and benzos for anxiety..i do not get any buzz at all from benzos, in fact i have sometimes even noticed they dull my mood out and can make me flat..ive never experienced any high from them so..its probably a good thing i dont..

^^ This. They're useful. Anxiety relief as quick as taking a pill though can be habit forming.... but as far as recreational use, no blackouts from too many or seizures from running out for me.

Other than the hypnotic properties that may make you in to a blacked out mad man and the obvious horrendous withdrawal from long term use....I really dislike the motor function impairment when one would seem he is totally fine and not under heavy sedation.

for example when I wad prescribed 2mg klonopin I went to snowboard. It wasn't even long after my first time ofnthe season and yet I could not go down 10 feet without falling and not knowing what I am doing wrong. I felt so stupid and agitated the whole day.

I would say it does have to do with the hypnotic properties since I don't realize I'm messed up but I believe that's like the threshold level. Still able to function 90% normal.

Temazepam was fairly euphoric when I first got on them but that was two years ago. Now that I have a daily tolerance I still find them nice mixed with kratom and/or weed. If you can stay awake they are decent mixed with small amounts of alcohol OR pregabalin. Since mine are for sleep I don't have to worry about having to function on them.

this. except that i sometimes get a nice, relaxed, fuzzy feeling (ime especially with bromazepam, rarely with diazepam and alprazolam totally lacks this but of course ymmv). but they're not something i'd do recreationally. i tried that once and well... i was relaxed and that's it. they're great for anxiety, but utterly boring for getting high.

Never got me high, but they are good to just chill and watch a movie.

Ditto, they're good for stressful moments, and when you really need to abort a trip. I see them as an essential tool, I normally won't trip with out them as my safety net.

The "euphoria" that I feel from them, I kind of see it as an indirect euphoria if that makes sense - If I feel perfectly relaxed then it's pointless, but when I've been stressed and tensed for a while, and I take them, that loss of anxiety, and a return to "normality" feels quite euphoric, but not in the traditional sense of the word.

Just my $0.02

I take it as I get stressed at night, but haven't taken it for some time (5-6 months). Been getting stressed at night as I'm at home with health issues and suffering from racing thoughts and mild anxiety attacks, so may go back on my Ativan. I can't watch a movie and actually pay attention to it, or play a game for a decent period of time without turning it off or thoughts getting the best of me.

Would Ativan work for such purposes?

For people with a real anxiety disorder they are God-sent, going from feeling anxiety all day long to being relaxed and not worried is the best feeling in the world, well at least to me. i choose xanax over any other pharmecutecial any day
