Favourite song lyrics

I just posted a line from this in another thread in NEMD as it happens!

Pepper - Give it Up

Its been a while since I've seen your face,
Gotta say that I'm happy to see you come around my place.
Now I think we've talked about it and I think I know what's coming up next,
lets put our minds away and let our hormones do the rest.
Does it seem obscene, does it seem like a bad thing?
Well if it is I'm sorry miss, but you know I'm just 19.
So don't be afraid if my pants start to leak.
you know damn well I'm in my sexual peak.
well..

Why don't you have some dirty hot sex with me?
It aint like I'm askin you to give it up for free.
yeahh
We can start it right now baby get on your knees,
don't make me beg again girl I just said please.

...

Lonely figures waiting, shadows on the hill,
Looking into valleys where everything is still,
Only death is lurking, the creeping sickness waits
So who's gonna win the war, now Who's gonna win the war,
Radiation wastelands in the setting sun,
Dust clouds they are gathering to obliterate the guns
Alqqready weeds are writing their scriptures in the sand
So who's gonna win the war, now Who's gonna win the war?

Come
And talk of all the things we did today
Here
And laugh about our funny little ways
While we have a few minutes to breathe
Then I know that it's time you must leave

But darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to

And now
A quarter of my life is almost past
I think I've come to see myself at last
And I see that the time spent confused
Was the time that I spent without you
And I feel myself in bloom

So darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to

Darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to

Go
And beat your crazy head against the sky
Try
And see beyond the houses and your eyes
It's ok to shoot the moon

So darling
My darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to

If you have ghosts
Than you have everything
If you have ghosts
Than you have everything

You can say anything you want
and you can do anything you want

If you have ghosts
Than you have everything

One never does that
One never does that

You can call it
Surprise there it is

The moon to the left of me
is a part of my thoughts
is a part of me is me

one never does that

in the night I am real
in the night I am real

The moon to the left of me
is a part of my thoughts
is a part of me is me

Wherever is the wind
is a part of my thoughts
is a part of me is me

In the night I am real

I don't want me
fangs too long

I don't want my
fangs too long

The moon to the left of me
is a part of my thoughts
is a part of me is me

Forever is the wind
to the left of me
is a part of my thoughts
is a part of me is me

I don't want my
fangs too long

If you have ghosts
than you have everything

I'm The Urban Spaceman Lyrics

I'm the urban space man, baby; I've got speed
I've got everything I need
I'm the urban spaceman, baby; I can fly
I'm a supersonic guy

I don't need pleasure
I don't feel pain
If you were to knock me down I'd just get up again
I'm the urban spaceman, baby; I'm makin' out
I'm all about

I wake up every morning with a smile upon my face
My natural exuberance spills out all over the place

I'm the urban spaceman, I'm intelligent and clean
Know what I mean?
I'm the urban spaceman, as a lover second to none
It's a lot of fun

I never let my friends down
I've never made a boob
I'm a glossy magazine, an advert in the tube

I'm the urban spaceman, baby; here comes the twist--
I don't exist

David Gray "Draw The Line"

Well we had to pull on something
so we're grabbing at the threads
and now the world's unravelin'
inside our very heads
Glasses smeared with lipstick
hungry eyes out in the street
Same old bodies moving to the same old beat
Had to draw the line
Had to draw the line

All this talk of hypnotising
we can ill afford
to give ourselves to sentiment
when our time is oh so short
Names beneath the lichen
on these, cemetery stones
There are carnivals of silver fish
waiting to dance upon our bones
Had to draw the line
help me draw the line
help me draw the line
help me draw the line

I've been doubting yours baby
I've been doubting mine
I've been out of circulation
where the sun don't shine
I've been doubting fame and wealth,
charity, even love itself
draw the line
I aint saying he's bad baby,
I aint saying he's good
Merely that he ain't so different
'neath the executioner's hood
In the name of liberty,
in the name of brotherhood
had to draw the line
had to draw the line

Need to take some pride baby
need to take some heart
need to take evasive action
when the rumpass start
Here we are buck naked yeah
but where should we begin?
when it's not the flesh we're after
but the howlin' ghost within
help me draw the line
help me draw the line
help me draw the line
need to draw the line
help me draw the line
need to draw the line
had to draw the line
pack your bags we're going home
pack your bags we're going home

who is the artist and what is the track in post 187 ZW ? I like those lyrics. And the same goes for Allein above.

Roky Erickson and the Aliens

I really like his stuff, the back story to his life is an inspiration to me at least, most of the early solo stuff was recorded whilst he suffered badly with mental health issues. His brother finally stepped in and got him the help he needed, there is a documentary film covering this

Present Tense

do you see the way that tree bends?
does it inspire?
leaning out to catch the sun's rays
a lesson to be applied
are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?
you can spend your time alone, redigesting past regrets, oh
or you can come to terms and realize
you're the only one who can't forgive yourself, oh
makes much more sense to live in the present tense
have you ideas on how this life ends?
checked your hands and studied the lines
have you the belief that the road ahead ascends off into the light?
seems that needlessly it's getting harder
to find an approach and a way to live
are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
you can spend your time alone redigesting past regrets, oh
or you can come to terms and realize
you're the only one who cannot forgive yourself, oh
makes much more sense to live in the present tense

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so ****ing crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty-odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still ****ing peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they're telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill

A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

Ive allready posted those lyrics ZW. I suppose they are so good though that they deserve a double post.

What do you make of the lines "But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see" and "If you want to be a hero well just follow me" ?

Is it just anger and sarcasm ? According to Albert Goldman John Lennon was a pretty fucked up guy, but that biographer seems intent on portraying people in the most critical and negative lights so I dont entirely trust that book 'The Lives Of John Lennon.'

It was raining hard in 'Frisco,
I needed one more fare to make my night.
A lady up ahead waved to flag me down,
She got in at the light.

Oh, where you going to, my lady blue,
It's a shame you ruined your gown in the rain.
She just looked out the window, and said
"Sixteen Parkside Lane".

Something about her was familiar
I could swear I'd seen her face before,
But she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken"
And she didn't say anything more.

It took a while, but she looked in the mirror,
And she glanced at the license for my name.
A smile seemed to come to her slowly,
It was a sad smile, just the same.
And she said, "How are you Harry?"
I said, "How are you Sue?
Through the too many miles
and the too little smiles
I still remember you."

It was somewhere in a fairy tale,
I used to take her home in my car.
We learned about love in the back of the Dodge,
The lesson hadn't gone too far.
You see, she was gonna be an actress,
And I was gonna learn to fly.
She took off to find the footlights,
And I took off to find the sky.

Oh, I've got something inside me,
To drive a princess blind.
There's a wild man, wizard,
He's hiding in me, illuminating my mind.
Oh, I've got something inside me,
Not what my life's about,
Cause I've been letting my outside tide me,
Over 'till my time, runs out.

Baby's so high that she's skying,
Yes she's flying, afraid to fall.
I'll tell you why baby's crying,
Cause she's dying, aren't we all.

There was not much more for us to talk about,
Whatever we had once was gone.
So I turned my cab into the driveway,
Past the gate and the fine trimmed lawns.
And she said we must get together,
But I knew it'd never be arranged.
And she handed me twenty dollars,
For a two fifty fare, she said
"Harry, keep the change."
Well another man might have been angry,
And another man might have been hurt,
But another man never would have let her go...
I stashed the bill in my shirt.

And she walked away in silence,
It's strange, how you never know,
But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for,
Such a long, long time ago.

You see, she was gonna be an actress
And I was gonna learn to fly.
She took off to find the footlights,
And I took off for the sky.
And here, she's acting happy,
Inside her handsome home.
And me, I'm flying in my taxi,
Taking tips, and getting stoned,
I go flying so high, when I'm stoned.

Worry

It's time to throw away your doubt,
Throw away your blues.
Wake up in the morning,
Tear up the news.
Go on slap yourself,
It's been too long,
Put on that motown record,
Stop thinking you're wrong.

You keep worrying about yourself,
Yeah, you keep worrying about yourself.
Oh it leads to nowhere else,
If you keep worry, worry, worrying.

Is your brain all angry?
When you wake up too,
In the city sounds,
Palastine news.
Whether you're really in love,
Whether she loves you too,
Whether you're meant to be doing,
What you do

You keep worrying about yourself,
Yeah, you keep worrying about yourself.
Oh it leads to nowhere else,
If you keep worrying about yourself.

So tired, so stay,
So tired today,
Oh, so tired always,
So worry, worry, whoa-o.

And you keep worrying about yourself,
Yeah, you keep worrying about yourself.
Oh it leads to nowhere else,
If you keep worry, worry, whoa-o.

Yeah, yeah.
This whole love, yeah.
This whole tune, yeah.
That first love, back to you.
Yeah and this whole love, yeah.
This whole tune, yeah
That first love, back to you.

Don't keep worrying about yourself,
You keep worrying about yourself

In these days of changing ways
so called liberated days
a story comes to mind of a friend of mine

Georgie boy was gay I guess
nothin' more or nothin' less
the kindest guy I ever knew

His mother's tears fell in vain
the afternoon George tried to explain
that he needed love like all the rest

Pa said there must be a mistake
how can my son not be straight
after all I've said and done for him

Leavin' home on a Greyhound bus
cast out by the ones he loves
A victim of these gay days it seems

Georgie went to New York town
where he quickly settled down
and soon became the toast of the great white way

Accepted by Manhattan's elite
in all the places that were chic
No party was complete without George

Along the boulevards he'd cruise
and all the old queens blew a fuse
Everybody loved Georgie boy

The last time I saw George alive
was in the summer of seventy-five
he said he was in love I said I'm pleased

George attended the opening night
of another Broadway hype
but split before the final curtain fell

Deciding to take a short cut home
arm in arm they meant no wrong
A gentle breeze blew down Fifth Avenue

Out of a darkened side street came
a New Jersey gang with just one aim
to roll some innocent passer-by
There ensued a fearful fight
screams rang out in the night
Georgie's head hit a sidewalk cornerstone

A leather kid, a switchblade knife
He did not intend to take his life
He just pushed his luck a little too far that night

The sight of blood dispersed the gang
A crowd gathered, the police came
An ambulance screamed to a halt on Fifty-third and Third

Georgie's life ended there
but I ask who really cares
George once said to me and I quote

He said 'Never wait or hesitate
Get in kid, before it's too late
You may never get another chance
'Cos youth a mask but it don't last
live it long and live it fast'
Georgie was a friend of mine

Oh Georgie stay, don't go away
Georgie please stay you take our breath away
Oh Georgie stay, don't go away
Georgie please stay you take our breath away
Oh Georgie stay, don't go away
Georgie, Georgie please stay you take our breath away
Oh Georgie stay
