Jon Singleton – the top first base prospect in baseball at the moment who is expected to bring the Houston Astros out of an extended slump – has spoken for the first time about his drug addiction.
The 22-year-old, who has become known as a dynamic left-handed hitter, has opened up about his battle with marijuana since first trying it as a teenager and a recent one-month stay at a rehabilitation center to straighten out his life.
‘At this point it's pretty evident to me that I'm a drug addict,’ he told The Associated Press.
‘I don't openly tell everyone that, but it's pretty apparent to myself.
‘I know that I enjoy smoking weed, I enjoy being high and I can't block that out of my mind that I enjoy that.

^ did you read the book on how the WC mets partied down.. but yeah DS is a sad thing.. so talented but so many addicts are.

‘I know that I enjoy smoking weed, I enjoy being high and I can't block that out of my mind that I enjoy that.

This does not mean you are an addict. I enjoy having sex and cant block that out of my mind.. but as I am not a sex addict I dont compulsively engage in sexual behavior, despite clear negative consequences to my life, while receiving little or no enjoyment. but good for you I like smoking bud once and awhile as well and I feel no need to deny this.

Addiction Guide

The dude just got bagged for smoking pot and had the media loe it out of proportion because hes a big name prospect. So he is playing it off as an addiction, going through all the bullshit steps like rehab and counseling to make it seem like he has some problems, looking for sympathy of some sort. We all know he has no regrets and would smoke all he wanted if it didn't have a negative impact on the potential for his professional sport career. But he is smart to do whatever makes him look better to the MLB organizations who might want to pay him millions of dollars and take a chance on the guy with their team. Once he is getting a nice contract then smoke week and who cares, you already are rolling in dough at that point.

I agree. He hasn't made his money yet. I hope he gets straitened out enough to get rich

What a fucking pussy. I'd have some sympathy if he developed a pain med addiction following injury but to cry that he has no control over smoking weed? Fucking please, you are living most peoples dreams, highly paid to basically fuck around playing a sport and you can't control your urges? Kids have to sit in class dreaming of the lunch bell so they can throw a ball around at lunch and you get to do it as a living, and even then it is only a few hours training a day. It's not like baseball is a dangerous sport with a short career lifespan either.

Here's some advice, get a fucking hobby in your down time that doesn't involve smoking weed and suck it up until you retire and then smoke through your earnings until you die. Hell fill the void with sluts if you want. If you can't handle this then get a real job working 9-5 and move aside for someone else who would give their left nut to field at first base.

^ I'm just talking about how baseball has a very long history of players being associated with drugs, and this way before the PED scandals in the 90's/2000's. But yea, Strawberry was on coke...among other things...like playing a game on acid.

MLB doesn't even test for weed, dope and cocaina if I remember correctly. They have a very powerful players' union.

Houston is a train wreck of a frachise.

they test for adderall lol

That doesn't make you an addict.
It just makes you a weed aficionado.
Would you (need to) block out of your mind that you enjoy coffee, or beer?
No, because these are accepted drugs.
And, if you are addicted to weed anyway, who really cares? Just get a contract with Seattle or Colorado and you are set ;)

Addicted = term used to draw sympathy when you are admitting to something that is relatively accepted in society, alike marijuana smoking has become.

I mean the poor guy just couldn't help it, he was an "addict". His PR guys know it not only draws sympathy for the sitation, but when he beats the odds of such a crippling addiction, then it will be a success story that the media can shove down out throats. Just like with the d-bag Josh Hamilton, but at least he was actually addicted to a substance that causes physical dependence.

Yea I agree, this dude just needs to come up with alot of bullshit because that's how society works. I hope his bullshitting works out and that "rehab" goes well and he can make enough money not to care in the future.
