No effects from 15g fresh shrooms?

Hey guys, I've tried shrooms on two occasions.

I've tried Sclerotia atlantis and Sclerotia mexicana, 15g fresh each time.

Based on descriptions by other users, I was expecting at least some visuals. Especially since the source I bought them from said 15g was for a strong trip.

The thing is, on my first try I didn't get any effects (only an increased self-esteem, but maybe that was unrelated). On my second try there is 30 seconds during which I saw the colours a lot more brightly (and I laughed my arse off alone in the middle of a garden, I must have looked like a madman x)), but nothing more than that. Is it usual to not get visuals at that dose of fresh shrooms?

I ate them with yoghurt and jam, maybe that lessened the effects?
 
Isn't 15g fresh equivalent to roughly 1.5 grams dried? If so, that's a light dose to be sure, I would definitely feel something but some people might not.
 
Not to be a bitch but sclerotia are not mushrooms. Sclerotia or truffles are rather like the tubers of plants while mushrooms are (like) the reproductive fruiting bodies. They more or less act on humans like mushrooms though.

This difference is not trivial, they have different potency. Generally fresh sclerotia / truffles are twice the potency of fresh mushrooms. The ratio for the dry versions is different because of different water content.
Potency between subspecies may vary a bit, but generally your 15 grams truffles would be about equal to 30 grams (Cubensis) mushrooms, which is a full dose.

If it was only one try it could just as well be attributed to low potency specimen, and yes flukes like that happen all the time. But since you tried multiple times it seems to get more likely that you are insensitive to the active alkaloids in them. In other words apparently you have naturally high tolerance or are what they call a hardhead. Sucks because you would need a higher dose which is of course less economical. However be careful! Two times is still not many at all, so ramping up the dose next time could get you in real trouble if you happen to encounter potent ones next time. Seriously, consider this.
But if you steadily keep trying and upping the dose with reasonable increments you should start getting better results. If that does not happen, I'm sorry to say that mushrooms might not be for you and if you want to trip other psychedelics might be better suited to try. For example check your luck with phenethylamines which are a different family of chemicals.

If these were Cubensis mushrooms you would have been right. They are about 90% water so the factor is neatly 10x.

However like I said these are sclerotia which are a lot denser and are only about 70% water IIRC, so drying 15 grams fresh would give you 4.5 grams dry. Still a 'full' dose of course. And which is about 2/3 the potency of Cubensis mushrooms which usually are a full dose at 3 grams.

I think that they were low potency specimens, since my girlfriend took the same doses as I did, and didn't feel anything as well. Next time I'm gonna try from another source, and I'm going to try 7,5g of Sclerotia hollandia (they say it's more potent so they advise to start at 7,5g). I hope this time it'll work. :)

The last time, on the 15g fresh mexicana, I was having brain zaps, so the psilocin/psilocybin was definitely hitting the 5-HT2A receptors, but no visuals except those 30 seconds with bright colours.

In my experience, mushrooms can have little visuals on small doses. Also, as far as mushrooms (not truffles) go, 15g fresh is rather low, I have done a little more than that fresh and it was light, easy to fall asleep on the second half of the trip.
