Benzos Xanax Query

Basics: Long term (6-7 years), high dose benzo eater; i'm a 10 mg alprazolam one handful not feelin' it type of guy.

Question 1: What is the explanation for my not feeling shit when I take 20 milligrams of xanax? (Other than "you took too much benzos and blew your circuits, idiot") Anyone with a handle on GABA function could help me with this...

Question 2: Is it possible that at this point, taking lower doses (specifically of alprazolam) might actually result in more "effect", "high", whatever or is this some reverse-placebo effect?

Thank Y'all
:?

^I think what you're getting at is what makes benzos so unpredictable in the first place, you don't necessarily always "feel them", but that doesn't mean they're not having any effect on you.

I'd say you just have a very high tolerance and you're very acclimated to the the drug, I don't have a scientific explanation for you for why you're "not feeling it"..

Not a scientific explanation at all, but after a month-long period of taking huge doses of either clonazepam or alprazolam every 2-3 days, I quit taking all benzos for a couple of months, and even after that 2 month break, when I tried taking 2mg alprazolam again, I didn't feel much at all. It felt like how 0.5 felt with little to no benzo experience. I think you just mentally get used to the feeling. With some people (me included), it's like a high just isn't a high if you know what to expect already. I've been kind of slowly training myself to recognize when I'm high, and it's been working. Couldn't explain how I do it, but I'm learning how to take a few bars and feel the way I used to feel on a few bars.

Hmm, that's interesting space; after the initial, we'll call it here in laymen's terms, "super-effect" you get when first taking benzos, there perhaps begins a psychological gulf that grows with all further benzo use...? Hmm. I know, at least my body tells me, that this whole "not getting high anymore on benzos" thing is physiological though.

This right here is how i feel about all drugs now, especially benzos, but even heroin and amphetamines. i was clean for 8 months now I've been using two weeks and nothing feels the same not as good, no matter how much i use.
