Hmmmmm one of my friends helped with the design of this memorial n she is a lovely person - and I'm sure tried her best.
I'm sorry if some of you don't like it but seriously it's not about liking it it's about remembering those who are no longer here n I think it's quite sweet n thoughtful. Come on now people that's what matters that people are remembered xxxx

What's the issue, OTW? Yes using images will help n things like 'lol' etc. If you are making a joke or something like that n you don't put 'lol' or some form of smiley/image, people are more than likely to take it the wrong way. I don't know you much but you seem ok to me. You've never done anything to upset or annoy me so I'm OK with you. I've seen you fall out with a few people and I seen you were a moderator once (hence why I PMd you other day) but I judge people on how they are with me and what I see of them. If you're ok with me n people I care about then all's good xxxx

As mentioned above, people are remembered every single day whatever colour the site happens to be. The complaint is that this particular version of the Blacklight skin is so unpleasant to look at that it's hard not to bitch about it cos it's ugly and distracting and even means some functionality is lost cos it's not been thought through properly. I'm sure your friend is a lovely person - and I know everybody does stuff on an entirely voluntary basis - but I do wish we'd just used the old version of Blacklight cos it looked great and everything worked (ie nothing was hidden in black on black text or invisible linkies).

She is a lovely person - she's a moderator on Bluelight n has lost people on bluelight too also another who helped (not so sure on this part if they actually helped but their name is listed) lost her son who was a moderator of Bluelight.

I do see where you are coming but think of it this way, whatever anyone does will offend someone - if it was all bright colours then people will be offended that it wasn't black - so I thin of it how I would if a loved one had bought me a present that I disliked - "it's the thought the counts!" We know that people who are no longer here are remembered daily but I think Alasdair etc doing something symbolic (physical, whatever the word) is a good things - it's the anniversary of one a very old member - close to the admin's death - and by reading the article from vice.com and the MEMORIAL page, it really hurts them. This person ODd on prescription drugs bought from an online pharmacy (that could easily have been me - I did that, I'm in £5,000 debt through doing that)... Nontheless I'm assuming that this person was close to Alasdair n co n just as it's important to respect all who have passed in EADD it's important to respect Alasdair n co's loss too n if this is the way they choose then what harm is it???? It's only temporary after all.

Instead of complaining can I make a suggestion???? Could EADD not do something to recognise those who have fallen in their/our way???? (I'm not trying to be offensive here so please don't think I am). What would those who have passed from EADD like? Suggest it to admin n may it would be possible to do something in EADD on a temporary basic???? Let the admin have this - is it really harming anyone??? Is it really bad for a short while??? If it gives me some sort of relief for their pain, for their loss is it really so bad???

For instance, my friend, Lewis, died of cancer. I'd known him since high school. I'd cut contact for two years, I had to due to my ex, and as he never used a mobile, never got back in contact. Found out that he had died n was gutted that I had never had the chance to be there for him. Now when I do my 'race4life' I think of him n hope that it will help anyone else who has cancer, survive n not die like Lewis had, a 29 year old who used to have time off work to look after his Mam, would think he could pay for phone credit by charging his phone, I miss him - but when I do my 5k I think of him... so that's my way (we all have our ways, eh!)

Sorry I've wrote a novel again - must be the drink n extra suboxone!

New BL smilies are few and far between but ya gotta admit when they happen they're worth the wait... or are they :sus:

Evey: We have a specific remembrance thread for EADDers no longer with us. And if you read what I said I wasn't complaining about it being black - and certainly wasn't saying it should be brightly coloured instead - I was just pointing out that the previous Blacklight skin was infinitely preferable and had none of the problems this new version has so I don't really see why this one is being used when there's a far better black-based BL skin that has been used every year up to now. Change for the sake of change is rarely a good thing and this skin is a backwards step in the design front. I'm sorry if it's your friends who designed it but that doesn't change the fact it was better before it was redesigned.
 
Just gone into the lounge for the first time ever, to see marmz typing big ole debates, looks like a right load of shite in there wouldnt waste the energy typing half a decent sentence

Swedger, I hope that was a joke????? I will judge OTW based on how he is TO ME... I've been judged myself based on others' opinion, even though I've changed n it's not nice. Maybe OTW has annoyed people but unless he annoys me in anyway I see him as an OK person

Well whaddaya know? Seems if you take drugs fairly early in the evening and don't redose you actually might want to get to bed at a sensible hour. Still got a mild fuzz on but mostly just tired now. Think I might just see if there's summat suitable to vegetate for a wee while then off to beddy-byes for me. Y'know I might just possibly be starting to get the hang of this moderation bizniz.
